I'm planning a trip to Ireland this June and am considering renting a motorcycle and doing a self guided tour for a week or so. I'll be riding 2up. Can anyone give me an idea what I'm in for as far as weather, rain, road/traffic conditions, etc ? Also, I'm looking at renting from Irishbike. Does anyone have experience with this company?

Plan on rain everyday  Bigsmile that way, a day without rain will seem like a bonus  Smile

I've never ridden in Ireland but, I've ridden in England & Wales and the weather can be "unsettled" as the Brits like to say meaning, you can go from sunshine to gully-washer and back to sunshine in just a few hours.

Just plan on rain everyday, that way you won't be disappointed  Bigsmile

That said, when the sun is shining, the UK is a great place to ride a motorcycle.

Many of the backroads will probably be single-lane so, that will keep your speeds down but, they're preferable to the main arteries.

Edit to add: R Doug posted pictures of his trip to Ireland in this thread:

I too am planning a trip to the Emerald Isle, and I read that the major difference between summer and winter in Ireland is the temperature of the rain... Lol

I am also looking at renting a bike. If I find anything encouraging I'll pass it along.
