Registration is open and a few weeks left until they close.

http://www.masondixon20-20.org/2011/index.htm

For those of you new to rallies - this is an awesome first one to run.  The Rally crew is great and Rick is a decent sort of Rally Bastard.  He wants people to ride, finish and be safe.  You will see some other heavy weights there with name you have seen before - like the who' who in LDR from the east coast - and all are there to help and lend advice if asked.

I have ridden 4 of the last 5, Sqeezer has run most of the last 11.

ST.N usually has a decent showing and "Team Bell Curve" is showing substancial overall improvement - if still very inconsistent.

I have a few scheduling issues to clear up - should have my registration in by 4/15.

Who else is going?

Squeez - are you going to run a scoring table with the lad?  I can't imaging a cooler weekend with your son - and just think of all the greta role models he would get to .... experience.

I'll definitely be scoring and other staff duties -- like checking the temperature of the hot tub and the beer.   Smile

It's not a for sure thing that my son is coming with me, but we're working on that.

For everyone else: DNA isn't kidding. This is a great place to run your first rally. Great for veterans too since you'll be up against some of the best. Or, if you're thinking you just might want to try your first IBA Saddle Sore 1K, the rallybastard will set up a 1k ride for you and then send a sheet verifying you did it. You send that in to the IBA and you can skip the rest of the paperwork, witnesses, etc. It's how I did my first one in 2001.

By the way, Dave, I met Rick at his cabin last weekend and did a little routing with the beta version of the bonus list. You're gonna like this challenge.  Lol

Sweet - I can only imaging what he has cooked up for us this year.

I used to work in Indy and I have a 9 gal tank now - twist and go go go go is always my preferred route.

All that thinking and strategy is sooo boring...

I hope your son can make the ride - it would be a fun weekend.

If you are working italone - you might as well be riding it.

Seriously, I wish I was. Too late now, though.

Yours truly will be there as well. Looks to be some great fun. My car is a Miller. The link to Harry Miller was cool.

Ok jackals - here it is.

I had the big 3, all the mandatories and both Jim's.

At the hotel i did get 25 points - but it took me 56 minutes and added probably
50+ miles to my route, and then I had a go round for a while looking for the
flight 93 memorial sighn. This put me considerably behind - but I had a lot of
points - I just needed indy to win it all.

Win I say - win.

A win for team bell curve was all but assured.

The slight scare with the psychotic FUUFF cop added some flavor to the night.

When I left Scott - My Garmin had me in Indy at ~5:00 Somehow I caught up to Jim
on the Trophy. Again. I do not understand how I kept catching you - but I think
it has to do with my 9 gal gas tank, 350 mile range and infrequent fuel stops.

We were cruising along pretty well for a time across ohio - then just past
columbus, a big storm came, and I decided that I should gas up and stop - I was
going to stop an hour later at 1:00, but the lightning gave me bad juju. Plus I
was low on fuel, hungry and tired, so I decided 12-3 was as good as 1-4 for not
sleeping.

So I stopped - just as the wrath of god unleashed on me at the gas pump. The
next 3 hours were spent eating pancakes, sorting receipts and drawing a
checkered flag with a sharpie on a dish towel liberated from the kitchen of the
country cookin diner place. Sleep was not an option as the truck stop was loud
and the hotels were on the other side of the exit adn i did not bother to walk
over.

I never saw nor really though about Jim again until the next night. Sorry you
crashed - but I am so glad I pulled off - can you imaging my massive gs tired
ass running over you as well? Not good and a real possibility the way we were
running.

SO at 0301 I leave and head it indy - gramin says arrive 5:19 - but around 4:15
just outside indy I got the nods. Bad.

I decided that I had to pull over and take a 20 minute power nap.

1 hour later I jump up, piss and head to the bike to see my arrival was now at
6:15. Oh shit.

When I got to indy at 6:15 the scene was parking lot - the cops told me there
was a 2 mile back up and it would take 3 hours - minimum.

Turns out I was going in from the south and there is a single bridge that fubard
the whole thing. From the north there are countless ways in - but I discovered
that on Monday - at home.

SO I said F@$K it, turned around and rode straight all the way back to the hotel
- whereupon I ran into scott and he called me a stupid douche bag - or something
to that effect, and left to go home in disgust.

The entire trip to indy got me around 1 pt - yea - but I also had 5 miles over
the limit - so dicking around looking for 30 miles going around trying to find
way in would not have really helped that much.

I ended up with around 701 pts - finished 6th adn made it home safe and sound.

After regressing to the mean in 2011, next year I plan to win. Seriously - what
go possibly go wrong again?

BTW Rick - YOU SUCK!

Some pics tomorrow.

Just got my paperwork from the Rally B-

Looks like a new cert to add to the collection on the wall.

BB1500 - don't have one of those yet.

I have a BBG - but not the BB1500.

1671 miles  in 33 hours - with rest stops and boni hunting (mostly missing).

Yea - something tangible to show for that miserable slog to indy and back.

And I though I did it for nothing.   Lol
