Fellow riders I need help some I am seeing what you have to say. I am getting ready to purchase a new Supersport. I have my eyes on a 2010 Kawasaki Ninja ZX6R and a 2009 Yamaha YZF-R6. I currently own a 03 R6 and love it, but it is not the most comfortable bike for me. I see that the Ninja won bike of the year the last couple of years and it is not the Ninja of old. I am open to any and all suggestions, let me know what you think.

My vote would be for the Kawasaki on the basis that the motor has some guts in the midrange. The big issue I see is that if you're not comfy on the old R6, what makes you think the newer supersports would be any better? If anything, these bikes have gotten more track focused with more extreme ergonomics than prior generations.
Anyway, good luck with the search. Whichever bike you choose will be a sweet ride.

Kenny Roberts rode a Yamaha. He was one of the most naturally talented riders to sling on a steel toe.
Yvon Duhamel rode a Kawasaki. They said he'd run over his grandmother's toe for a victory.
Back in the old days, we rode whatever our heroes rode

Ya, what he said.
Actually, I've found that GSXRs from those years to be the roomiest of the SS bikes on the market.
What about a Ninja 636? 36cc might not seem like much but everything I've heard or read about 'em raves about the noticeable difference over the 600.
Or how about something completely different? Motorcycles come in all flavors and I like to at least try a variety.

Of those two, I'd get the Kaw...BPF (Big Piston Fork) just sounds better to me in terms of male-compensating.
Over those two, I'd get an '09+ Daytona 675 or the new Daytona 675R.

The Kawi has more top end and much more mid range.
Which on a 600 starts at 8000 rpms...
I'd recommend a nice Vespa Rally 200.

The only problem is that these 600s lack real power. You really need to get a liter bike if you want to be able to pass a Miata.

The 636 would be more street friendly. However did they get the quirks with that motor straightened back out? I know they had a couple of years where there seemed to be an abnormally high number of early deaths in those mills.
The Yammi would be the sharper edged track tool if that's what you're looking for. Yes, it lacks bottom end and mid-range but it isn't designed to operate in that RPM range.
I occasionally yearn for another RR type bike. The truth is by the time I get to the limit of "Fun" on the FZ1, going further with the scalpel type handling of a mid-weight RR would be nothing but a bad idea for me on the street. It sucks to not be able to stay within spitting distance of talented riders on fast bikes at times, (I enjoy the company of younger riders who still have that fearlessness) However, just when I start to get really tempted to get something truly quick one of those fast guys bites the dust in front of me and as I watch them go sliding down the road the temptation fades.

Hey I love all the comments, my buddy has a RR and he really likes it. I love the Yammi, but I do believe that I am moving to the Kawi. Someone mentioned a liter bike. Yea, no thanks, the 600 has all the quickness I need. Most of the guys I ride with have 600's, one does have a 98 Superhawk and I stick with him all day long. The Kawi has blown up the last couple of years and it really is the bike to beat. Guess I will change my name to 2010 Kawi....haha....going to get it within the next week or so (if the weathers lets me). Will post some pictures when I can. Later two wheelers.

I don't get it. How is either of those bikes more comfortable than 03 R6?
If comfort is important, maybe something like a Z1000. I've ridden one... definitely a bit more comfortable than a supersport.
