Rick, why do you want the device for?

I say just put on some bright LED lights on your commuter bike to get people to notice you.  I laser seems devious and can just get you in trouble.

The bright LED auxiliary lights will even HELP you see better instead of being a distraction.

Eh, I guess you just don't get me, or my wacky experimental ways.  Razz

Too bad ST.N.  v1 crashed and burned, because my two earlier, well documented, lane-splitting experiments went down in flames with it. One was running a bullhorn with a repeated sound-track loop of the the classic Bugs Bunny cartoon where he's trying to make his way down a row of seats in a movie theater (excuse me, pardon me, pardon me, excuse me... etc.). The other was running a shrouded 5 million candle-power spot light ahead of me to announce my short arrival. Kinda glad that one's not around for review, because the set-up was a really bad kludge  Embarassment.

Any-case, those first two experiments never went past a couple days testing. I'll accept devious and trouble for the laser experiment, but it's made it through testing, and now resides in the novelty sector. I'm keeping this one because it is useful in some situations, and maybe I'm still the only guy that shoots a laser beam ahead of arrival?

Could still be a bad idea, even for occasional and limited deployments. Just for fun, I deployed yesterday on the way to work in grid-lock traffic. You can't really see it in full daylight, but you can see it in shadows, like under an overpass of the freeway. Just as I was coming up on a CHP cruiser that was coming into an overpass, I flipped it on. I managed to get a ping off one of the divider reflectors as well. It sure seemed like he saw it, because he swiveled his head and was looking hard at me as I split by. Still, wtf was he gonna do? He was parked in grid-lock traffic...  Lol

Yeah, and just in-case you think I'm making this shit up (I think this was 7-8+years ago)...

I dug up the original bullhorn (or more accurately, Leah told me she knew where it was). I'm wondering if the original soundtrack is still on it. The batteries are long since dead, and it runs on 4 C-cell batteries so it's not like I have any of those lying around. Does anything run on C batteries anymore?  I think I'll need to pick some of those up.

Anyway, here's bad cellphone photo proof of wackyness, years of dust left intact...

 Lol

I like your experiments!

I don't get to lane split as much as you in really heavy traffic so I don't get the urge to experiment.   Wink  My environment is more conducive to stealth running.

Is that a jar of moonshine?  If so, it would explain a lot.   Bigsmile

I can't stop laughing at the though of you cruising between lanes with the soundtrack playing.  rofl
