Howdy dudes, I spend about 5 hours round trip from Austin to Mason on the Buell TT. It was a refreshing change from the Fredericksburg area, which I wanted to avoid because I knew it would be crowded and busy with lots of bikers. There looks to be lots of dirt county roads in the area. I did not ride the FM501 and FM580 because I was on the TT, but I want to go back on the KLR.

These guys were looking well fed on the way to Mason.

I have never seen a concrete truss bridge!

Just across the bridge was this fabulous home, still occupied and well maintained too!

There's a lot of good riding around Mason, just beware the deer! I used to hunt up near Katemcy.

I have seen that bridge when I went on a similar route around Mason a couple of years ago but missed the Seaquist house - is it in Mason also?

I really, REALLY miss the Hill Country. Lived in Austin twice; '84-88 & '93-98. Me and my trusty R80ST. Venture a little further west to Brady.  Thumbsup

Brady is a good stop to grab some Q at the Hard Eight and then head on west through Menard to Ft, McKavett.
