A Peugeot diesel powered Cali - from the Netherlands of course!  Headscratch

Personally I prefer vee-twin power.

While the very concept is abominable, and it can't be a Guzzi with a French motor, you have to admit, the workmanship and attention to detail on the bike appears to be first rate.

Errrr? while it isn't strictly a Guzzi what's wrong with the idea of a compression ignited engine for a motorbike? For most 'Tourers' it makes a lot of sense.

Have you driven any of the crop of small, high-speed diesel cars of the last decade or so? They're actually bloody brilliant on the whole!

Actually I have not only driven one, I have owned two Citroen turbo diesels and they were both brilliant!
Comfortable, practical, reliable and 50mpg! Bigok

So in a Guzzi, it's probably getting 100 MPGs!   Thumbsup  Sport-Touring at it's best, when you have a 500 mile range!   Cool

I think it's incredibly clever. (Looks like it weighs about 900 pounds though!)

I'd ride it just for fun. Looks like it has a lot of get-up-and-go!

my tdi (VW) has been an eye-opener to what a modern diesel can be.  If this could translate to a California-like-model Guzzi, they'd have something (although I'm sure the turbo and exhaust-particle details would be difficult to scale).  US taxes push diesel costs higher, but the EU market might really be viable.

Interesting.
Obviously, it's no more a Moto Guzzi California, but we can call it a "Peugeot Diesel California Cruiser"... Probably, with the characteristics of a diesel engine, it would appeal to a traditional MG owner - me, for one...  Cool
Problem is, the price difference here in Italy between gasoline and diesel now is very small, so the gain would probably be the extended range with a full tank.

On the plus side it will smoke less and vibrate less than the original engine.

On my 3rd goose... yet to own a smoker.  Pretty sure the engines are known for longevity, not burning oil... or maybe I missed something.

I wonder if the diesel motorcycle could overcome some of the "issues" with diesels in cars and light trucks, such as the high battery load (resulting in dual or large CCA batteries) and large oil capacity due to oil getting "dirty" quick along with more frequent oil changes.  I have heard some of the cars are getting better...   Headscratch
