Welcome to my hell....

I put a deposit on one last December. Was told the middle of Feb., then the end of March, beginning of April, now being told, the end of April, beginning of May. I'm betting the real date is closer to September with the rest of the new models. I'll continue to wait though. It's dead sexy.  Bigsmile

Brown leather seats are très retro chic.

The team race bikes back in the 1950s had green paint (some say it wuzn't even paint) with brown seats *

Indeed, it wasn't paint, it was simply verdigris.

Haven't been paying much attention since that bike was announced a couple years ago, but last I heard, the SE was NOT coming to North America.  Guess that changed.

The Guzzi race bikes of the '40's and '50's had wafer thin, hand beaten alluminium fairings. To prevent them corroding they were treated in some way, (Can't remember how exactly?) and this gave them the green finish. The reason was very simple. The treatment weighed next to nothing whereas paint is 'Heavy' Smile Really, even back then chasing weight loss was a huge factor in top end racing and one of the reasons the shitty, underpowered, pommy singles still managed to give a good account of themselves right up until the sixties in the hands of privateer racers. A Manx or 7R doesn't make prodigious HP but they were very light and agile compared to the Gileras and MV's.

In a happy twist of fate, this allowed their riders to push their bikes back to the pits in record time.

I advise against the Staintune for the 8V Griso. With the baffle in it is horribly strangled, with it out it doesn't have enough restriction and still sounds 'Tinny'. There are a variety of other AM slip ons that work much better and IHMO look better too.

It was in 2008, I believe.  An otherwise quiet evening in Seattle when a group of STNers met for sushi.  Those unfortunate people in the International District...their ears are still ringing from the echo of Mookie's seismic Falco.

No silver. Some markets got orange but mostly the 1100's came in yellow, red and black and the 1200's in red, black and white. The white is the same one used on the RSV-4 and is gorgeous. My 12 was white but I had the chance to get it painted and personalized very cheaply so I did.

This was a press release in December....

Quote
he North American division of the Piaggio Group has recently announced that the US customers will be able to buy the company’s new Moto Guzzi Griso 8V SE motorbike starting the first half of 2011.

The bike has also received a price tag, with the new model to retail for $14,490.

So they clearly have (or had) intentions of bringing it in....

That is a $3000 difference in price and our dollar is stronger right now, looks like a trip to Seattle is in order. In defence of Chilliwack Yamaha/Guzzi they did claim they could be competitive in pricing and as I was just drooling at the time I never asked on pricing, may be worth a phone call to haggle.
