Only two choices. No discussion for other dates. Time to nail this thing down and put it on the calendar.

The Ohio River Sternwheel festival is in Marietta the weekend of Sept 9-11. You may view this as a bonus (carnival atmosphere downtown, stuff to see) or a problem (crowds at restaurants, hotel rooms booked up). Here is more info on the festival:

http://www.ohioriversternwheelfestival.org/

So let me know which weekend you prefer. I don't have a preference. I think the festival might be pretty cool to walk to/thru, but the following weekend is my 9/80 Friday so I wouldn't have to take a vacation day. I want to nail down a block of hotel rooms (Super 8) ASAP, so vote NOW. If there is a clear preference I'll go with that, but if it's pretty much even, I'll pick my preference (says the benevolent ESTN dictator).

Labour day is September 5th, so there's a four-day work-week, so if I take the 16th off to make my way down to Marietta then there's another four-day work-week, which means two four-day weeks in a row, and that's good, so that's how I voted.

Just got a reply about the group rate at the Super 8 and the hotel is sold out for that weekend. The web site indicates a double room is available, but I doubt there are 20 rooms for us to book.

So this poll might be a moot point and it'll be the 16-18 just due to room availability. More info to come as I get it...

Thanks for setting this up Garry, great location! I voted 16-18 because I am not much of a camper so having a hotel room is a big bonus  Bigsmile

My son in Afghanistan just got word that he gets leave in June/July, so Sept looks good for me, then I read another thread about getting a pass on the wifes birthday for this..... .....so I had to vote 9-11.

Poll is closed. No lodging available for the 11-13 window, so assumes it's going to be 16-18. I hope to work out any group reservation tomorrow.
