ST1300 replacement: when, if ever?
«

When the VFR1200 was coming out, there was some thought that a more "touring-oriented" version would come out afterward. Something to more or less replace the ST1300.
Well, it's been a while now since that bike's debut. Any rumor mill stuff out there?
The ST13 fits a lot of what I'd want in my next bike, but I sure would like an update on it.

When I first got mine, the farkle bug bit but I held off, adding only the Hondaline topbox. The more I rode it, the less I wanted to change things because the bike works just so damned well! I'm glad I held off because it saved me a fortune on things that I not only didn't need, but that I eventually would have removed after buying the stuff. Yes, the ST1300 all by itself is THAT good.
So sez I.

Don't look for it anytime soon. With the happenings in Japan
(Honda and Toyota are officially closing euro car factories and slowing production in the US), the poor sales of the VFR1200, and the decent sales of the ST1300p. A replacment might not happen for a long time.
No "real" rumors, so I'll start one now; 4 years Honda will make a ST out of the VFR1200, ending a great motor.
No matter, I'll either be broke and have sold my bike to send my kids to college, or I'll own a MTS1200...

Supposed to be coming out with a new Wing sometime soon too. Two factors will delay any new models: Japanese earthquake and recovering global/American economy.
Honda went 13 years before updating the Wing in 2001, so I predict 2014 will bring out the new model.
Honda went 13 years before updating the ST1100 in 2003, so I predict 2016 will see the new ST1200 with a VFR motor.
