I went to my local triumph dealer a few weeks ago, thinking about trading my Sprint for a Street Triple. Sucks to be me, there were none left and a near 2 month wait for the '11 Streets to be in stock. So I moped around the showroom for a while looking at the selection of tasty Ducatis and MV Agustas I wish I could afford to own. And there it was, waiting for me...  Inlove

Maybe the new one is a little bit 'better', but this one is soooo much more awesome looking!

Congrats.

I went in to the local triumph looking for a streety yesterday also - and they were trying to get my into a 2010 S3. Same one I think.

It seems they are motivated to move 'em.

Your looks awesome. Super nice.

Want!

Awsome  Thumbsup !

I still mis my Speedy every now and again.  I wouldn't be surprised to see one back in the garage down the road.  That is a great paint scheme too. Careful after that break in is done the right grip just gets addictive.

Thanks everybody. I'm really happy I lucked into this. I don't hate the new Speed lights, but I much prefer the classic bug-eye look. The 2 tone paint is gorgeous, the white is pearlescent. I just love it.  Inlove

All the reviews of the new Speed tout the improved handling, especially at the limit, but I don't (can't ) ride like that anyway so it's irrelevant to me.

As far as the break in, I can only restrain myself for the first 100 -200 miles, then the manufacturer's recommendation becomes more of a suggestion than a rule.  Wink

All reviews of any new bike tout the improved whatever.  It's what fuels the marketing bandwagon no matter what the reality is.
And of course the journos claim to feel the difference at their incredible 10/10ths riding pace..

Ride a bike from the 70's.  Now, ride a late model bike.

Did you notice the difference?  Think it might have occurred through incremental improvements year after year?

The marketing schtick does get old, but sometimes there is a small grain of truth in that beach they're selling.

Congrats on the new bike Tbone!

I rode my 1983 Guzzi 850 Le Mans, the same time I had my 2009 Harley Dyna.  26 year difference.  Guess which one handled better?
 Bigsmile

But to be fair, you are going for a 40 year difference to prove a point.  That's older than my last two g/fs combined...

The Sprint is a great bike.  Thumbsup  I just flat out don't tour. I bought it thinking I'd be taking long trips with it but it never happened, mostly because I realized I didn't want to. I've got 2 kids and want to spend as much of my time off doing things with them as possible. I had the cases sitting unused in my garage for nearly 3 years.

This winter new bike-itis hit me hard and I made the decision to go for a more day-ride fun bike. I love the triple engine and was initially set on a Street Triple, but I fell in love with the Speedy.  Smile

That sucker just looks bad-ass!

You'll love the Sprint. It's really versatile and all day comfortable (once you get a decent seat.   Wink)

After my track day last weekend, I've been giving some serious impulse consideration to trading my Sprint for a STriple or Daytona.  I've used my cases on 3-day weekend trips to AR, but I hardly consider that a tour when I know guys older than me that can do the same trip on a liter-bike.

I've been infected big time by the track day bug and would also like a more day-ride fun scoot.  I find the timing of your post to be...almost an omen?   Lol

On a side note, it was hella cool that a Triumph Rep, whom I met last year when the demo truck came to town, was at the track day ripping it up on a Speedy!

I've seen that SE (not yours obviously) in person...feckin gorgeous bike!

Nice... I love the red/white (almost as much as the roulette green).

My 05 Sprint also led to me owning a Speed Triple  Bigsmile

Loved my sprint but made a terrible mistake and traded it in on a ZX-14... Never really liked the 14... Loved the day it went away and my Lizzie came home!

I think you are using a bad example.  They made some pretty drastic changes to the Speedy; just look at how much the weight distribution changed between the two.  You may notice the headlights most but I bet they are very different bikes out on the road.
