I think you are using a bad example.  They made some pretty drastic changes to the Speedy; just look at how much the weight distribution changed between the two.  You may notice the headlights most but I bet they are very different bikes out on the road.


During the press release at a track in EU, the new S3 had a 7-second advantage to the old one.   Thumbsup

I agree, the changes to the Speed for '11 are fairly significant. All the ranting has been over the styling, primarily the lights, but the ride and handling characteristics are from all accounts improved by a good margin.

Luckily for me I'm not a racer - the " old" Speed is good enough!

After my track day last weekend, I've been giving some serious impulse consideration to trading my Sprint for a STriple or Daytona.  I've used my cases on 3-day weekend trips to AR, but I hardly consider that a tour when I know guys older than me that can do the same trip on a liter-bike.

I've been infected big time by the track day bug and would also like a more day-ride fun scoot.  I find the timing of your post to be...almost an omen?   Lol

On a side note, it was hella cool that a Triumph Rep, whom I met last year when the demo truck came to town, was at the track day ripping it up on a Speedy!

I've seen that SE (not yours obviously) in person...feckin gorgeous bike!


Do what I did.  Keep the Sprint, and find a nice used track toy if that's what you're hankering for.  As for the Speed Triple, the differences between 2005 and 2010 are VERY incremental, but the price gap is wide.  Heck, a 955 Speed Triple is still a really nice ride, and they can be had for song if you look around.

Then again, I do go on multi-week trips, and plan on doing them again.  But this year is going to be mostly local, so enter the Tuono as a second bike, not a replacement.

I saw the new 2011 Speedy today in the local dealers showroom and it's a nice bike but... not like yours or my Street Triple.

That bike is a keeper - don't let her go   Inlove
