Ya know, I have been around the block a couple times, seen ground blizzards on the tundra and horseflies that can hit 40kmph and bite right through coveralls. Most of my working life has had a logistics element.
So why the hell was I so suprised to see that car with SKIs on it as I'm pounding on to Salzburg shivering? Which is when I start to go through this train of thought about Alps, skiing, snow, bloody cold, April, which most normal humans would have at least given some thought to before they hit the road.
Oh well, it's warmer in Croatia, I have seen the Adriatic, took a wander around Split, beat it back to the hotel before my mouth my promises my carcass couldn't keep, and tomorrow is a brand new day!

Split ! You have been making good time. The roads are pretty sweet around there.  Have a little Slivovitz and celebrate being in the Balkans !  (shudders at the memory of drinking Shlivovitz late into the night  Crazy)

Haven't been doing a lot of sightseeing so far and cruising at 130 eats up the distance. Had a big shot of Talisker in the hotel bar but I'm thinking the Slivivitz will wait for a couple days. Planning to stop at Doug Worthes place in Bulgaria, that might be the time.

Enjoy the trip south to Dubrovnik and take some time to walk the old walls of the city, if they still allow you to do that.
