I've only had Corbins, got 2 right now, so it wouldn't be a good comparision, but I'm happy with both of them. Shocked when I got my first, it weighed a ton and felt like a leather covered brick.

 The seat on the Moto Guzzi has to be among the best original equipment seats there is. Even Trish is happy as a clam while riding pillion. If I only rode in town I'd change the bars. Out of town and the seat/bars just fall into place.

I have not been impressed with Corbins even though some people swear by them. Sargents have treated me bum well though

Go out, find you a KTM 300XC (or whatever) ride it hard for about 5 hrs straight (with the stock seat) then your bikes stock seat will feel like sitting in a tub of butter!

Save the money you'll need tires!

Before you shell out the big bucks, try some way cheaper alternatives. I tried a sheepskin, and it didn't work for me (still got monkey butt), but a lot of people love 'em. After the sheepskin I went to a beaded seat cover, and couldn't be happier. No more monkey butt for me. I splurged and got a $36 dollar bead rider. There are many people who buy a $20ish dollar beaded seat for a car and modify them. Either way you go, it is significantly cheaper than a custom seat

Rick Mayer is pricey because each one's custom made on order; but the best.  

Corbin and Sargent are both mass produced - I've owned both and prefer Sargent.

Another option to consider is modifying your seat yourself - you can buy a second stock seat used & cheap off eBay if you want to preserve your stocker.  I've done several for myself and friends, and the results have been great.  The best part is if you need to change something after test riding you can do it immediately, rather than mailing it back and waiting days or weeks.

It can get a little uncomfortable on really long runs, but I simply get off the bike and move around for a few minutes and I'm good for more riding. I can put up with the minor discomfort if it stops monkey butt

I've had good results with corbin (I've had 4 of them).
I tried a Rick Meyer seat for my 05 FJR and was dissapointed, it was almost as uncomfortable as the stock.
I traded with a guy who had a corbin and it was almost as bad, but not quite. So maybe it was the fjr that was the pain in the butt.

I still use the stock seat on my ST1300, but with one of those airhawk inflatable seat pads for long distances. It is VERY comfy!!

I've had good luck with Corbins. The best I've found though is a Russell Day Long, custom fitted to my manly yet tender buttocks. I have one on my GS and will be getting one made for the GT shortly

I couldn't afford any of that so, I made my own.  Pulled off the vinyl, went to fred meyer, spent $5 on some crappy foam and started cutting.  I have pics but I need a stronger staple gun to keep the vinyl on the seat pan better.  I'll post pics when that happens.

A while ago I recently restored a VF-750 and I ordered a new seat skin and took it to a local upholstery shop to get installed.

The fellow who owned the shop used some new dense foam on the job, and the end result was a $25.00 bill for his labour, and the most comfortable seat I have ever sat on. He is well known by the loacl HD crowd.

Just purchased a Sargent.  My thinking is that I started with the stock seat and have found it unpleasant.  I want to try out a mass-produced replacement before immediately jumping to a custom (if required.)  If the midway point satisfies, no point in going further.  If not, I'll know that the higher cost is justified in the quest for comfort.

Just did a 2000+ mile trip. Sargent and a home made Bead Rider made it a painless experience. (pre-medicated with Ibuprofen of course).

I was looking at the Corbin gunfighter seat for my 919, I've never owned anything but stock seats so I didn't vote.  Definitely post up what you get and write up a review on the seat for all us 919 owners...... (crickets)

I have a Bill Mayer saddle on the GS.

If I had the budget I'd have gone with the Russell...regardless, the Bill was good enough to see me across 2450 miles in 44 hours.

I have had a Corbin, that did not work for me. Then a Russel day long that was fantastic, I never did 1000 miles, but I did do 625 and only got off the bike for a 20 minute lunch stop. I currently have a Sargent. Better than stock, but not a Russel. I did not want to do without the bike for a month to get another Russel, but now I am sorry.
