At the bottom of the product description, it says "Imported".  Not so sure about it being US made.

You're right. I emailed 'em to make sure and they say that the Ultralight is made in the US, but the Light is made in Vietnam. I wonder how much the difference in production cost is?

as is their leather line.  Vanson doesn't make off-the-rack leathers in the U.S. anymore, either.

I'm not surprised the armor is optional; they're not the first to lower the pricepoint by making previously-standard components add-ons.  BMW has been doing it with rain liners for a few years now.
