Amarillo Hotel

Looking for a hotel in Amarillo, prefer small boutique hotel or mom/pop motel, non chain. Clean, safe & motorcycle friendly preferred. It's for one night on our trip out west. Any suggestions appreciated.

On my trip to Coudcroft N.M. three of us stayed at the Big Texan in Amarillo. Its easy to find off I-40 with all the billboards for the free 72oz steak.It's right beside the restaurant and meets all your criteria.

Jay, I can't remember the exact rate but I'm thinking around $50.Goggle em up and call to be sure.
It's across the parking lot from the restaurant and makes it ideal for an overnight.You can pack up walk to breakfast and your right on 40 to proceed West.Or in your case East.

I have stayed at the Big Texan Once, I usually camp when I pass through Amarillo on my way to Colorado...There is a KOA about 3 miles down the road that is excellent.  
But I always eat at the Big Texan Steak Ranch next to hotel...Very Good

The hotel is ok...a bit old and dated but clean and Biker friendly.

Matter of fact we were wanting to eat at the Big Texan as we will be hitting Amarillo about dinner time. There is not a lot of info on their hotel/motel, no pics of the rooms and such. But as long as it's clean, I don't have an issue with it, in fact, I like the one stop aspect of it.

When are you passing thru Kurt? You're welcome to stay with me and my gf. We have a spare bedroom with a twin bed and a garage to store the bike. Not the best accommodations in town, but certainly the cheapest. Skip eating at the Big Texan. Take a walk thru and eat somewhere else. Their steaks suck. Much better elsewhere.

Thanks for the offer, looking at spending the night in Amarillo Saturday June 11th, the wife and I are slabbing it out to NM the heading north into CO/WY/SD/MT. Right now the plan is to take the southern route of I-40 and then head north into CO. Plans may change and go north first then south, but that depends on my wife's sister and husband who may or may not join us.

Again thanks for the offer but I don't know if a twin bed will cut it for the two of us, but would appreciate any advise on hotels and restaurants.

Was also looking a little west of Amarillo at Tucumcan NM, looks like they have several small mom & pop type hotels. But don't know if we'll be able to make it that far in one day.

No planned route, just some ideas of roads and areas we want to visit.

It's a true restored Route 66 motel complete with interior court and doors on both the court side and driveway side of the room.  However, last time thru the place looked abandoned but open  

Clean the couple of times we did stay.  Restraunt and bar on premisis.  Seems like it was less than fifty bucks.  If you check it out, be sure to report back
