This weekend, my neutral indicator started to act a bit strange. The bike is in neutral but the light wont come on and it wont start with the stand down. A little futzing with the shifter and POP the light comes on and up she starts.

WTF?

As always,

TIA.

Once in a while you get shown the light in the strangest of places if you look at it right.

A wiring diagram might lead you to see that whatever activates the neutral light is also connected to the starter interlock.

Suzuki builds cheap ass bikes, but it also leads to cheap ass solutions.

The GSF1250s have a weakness in the gear position switch.  It starts with a fickle neutral light that will often light up when the stand is down.  If the bike thinks it's in gear, it won't start with the stand down.  Some people have had some success with squirting contact cleaner into the switch (it's sealed) but the general opinion is to replace it.

I had the identical issue and replaced the switch with no further problems.  Same issue for the 650s.

The switch is under the front sprocket cover and is easily accessed and replaced with hand tools.  The part number is 37730-18H01

There's a thread at: http://www.twtex.com/forums/showthread.php?p=844863 on it
