Then, I guess I'd better note: That's not Kansas; that's Provincia del Chianti, Italy.

Porca troia!
There WAS a Guzzi in the middle of the road, now it's someone's recycling!
Sorry to see that, what's the backstory?

That's Moto Guzzi's anti-theft system. Try to start it without the key and it spontaneously combusts.

Built by a very clever man who allowed himself to be convinced that a wasted spark ignition system on a 90* twin with 270/450 firing intervals was a good idea because it was very tuneable. He knows why it burnt. I know why it burnt. The supplier of the ignition denies any problem. The laws of physics will

So the carbs were very rich and the exhaust overheated due to the wasted sparks on the exhaust stroke?
If one had complete combustion, I think it wouldn't be a problem, I mean, plenty of vehicles have run a wasted spark igniton.
Izzat it, or am I missing something?

Didn't quite catch and kicked back on one cylinder swasted spark on the other cylinder ignited the incoming mixture and set fire to the pod filter. The results are as you see. It's not the teasted spark per se. It's where it occurs with the engines firing intervals. Needless to say the system was builkt and sold by a German.
