I still think they should have been 250cc twins by rule........ better exhaust note and more RPM's.

Sounds kinda sporty when run alone. I wonder what a field of 30+ sounds like.

84 kg and 35.5 HP fo the 250 4 stroke = 2.36kg/hp
28 Nm torque for the 250 = 3.00kg/Nm
71.5 kg and 32.3 hp for the RS125 2 stroker = 2.21kg/hp
24.5 Nm torque for the 125 = 2.91kg/Nm
So reasonable performance compared to the old smokers. We'll see how the torque affects the lap times. Maybe they can get on the gas earlier in the corner than the peakier 2 strokes?

Dunlop announced as exclusive tire supplier for Moto3. Don't know if any 125cc teams get special gumballs right now but a spec tire could make lap time comparisons between the "old" two-strokes and new thumpers slightly more difficult.

The new 250 singles will sound like the contraption they used to start up that sweet old Honda. I can enjoy the sound of almost any engine configuration except a four-stroke single.

I wonder how high the four-stroke racebikes will rev? KTM announced a Moto3 bike and I know they've had a 250 4T single MX bike with a 14K redline for a few years. I'd think the road race versions would go beyond that.
And count me in the group that likes the sound of modern four-stroke singles.

125cc five cylinder? I imagine valve springs were easy to find- they just swiped a bunch of ball-point pens from the office and cannibalized them.

It was a fiendish scheme by Honda to make the riders pay attention to their duties.

I *think* it had to do with a rider who had some type of hand/wrist injury that brought about the alteration.
kinda like Doohan's famous thumb brake when he had leg injuries.
that doesn't explain why they left it on the bike. I may be imagining the whole thing.

Is is maybe the audio being so far out of sync with the video that the rising revs sound coincides with the closing of the throttle motion???
I dunno???
