Just got back from a camping weekend at Iron Horse Campground in Stecoah NC on US 28 just southeast of Deals Gap http://www.ironhorsenc.com/. It was a Suzuki V-Strom rally and I was attending with some friends even though I don't ride a V-Strom.
The campground is the best I've seen, just beautiful, immaculately clean, ever detail seen to, great facility, great food, great people. I just can't say enough positive things about this place. They have tent camping spots, RV parking spots, and multiple cabins and bunk houses.
With a name like Iron Horse I thought it would be a Harley Hangout, with lots of loud pipes, hoot-in and holler-in, and general drunkenness. I was wrong, there were bikes of all type there and a really civilized crowd.
They have tons of out door seating under porches, around the fire pit, inside with big screen TVs, and on the front porch. Great meals including breakfast can be pre ordered, coolers can be rented, Ice can be purchased. This place is definitely worth a visit, located in prime riding country and really affordable, at least for tent sites $15.00 per tent. I'm not sure of the cost of other cabins/bunkhouses.

I agree, I have stayed there many time and have hosted a COG rally there  twice.  COG will be having another rally there this sept.

I've stayed there a couple times & sounds like you had the same experience that I did.  Its a great place & I'd recommend it for anyone.

If the COG will be having a rally there in Sept, then put me down for a reservation.    Thumbsup

I've stayed at the Ironhorse several times and my experiences mirror those of the OP.

John and Charlene go out of their way to make everyone welcome and comfortable.

The Ironhorse is always my first choice when I plan on staying in the area.

  I reccommend it without hesitation.
