I My way home my speed O stopped working and across the bottom of the of the display the word SERVICE appeared. The little triangle light with the exclamation point is all lit up as well. She seemed to ride a little funny but that could be from me wondering if it was OK.  i had my dash replaced 900 miles ago due to the water leaking issue. i don't think its anything serious but i want to fix it before i ride again. is there anything that anybody can think of that i could check?

Thanks

update: the only thing i am getting from the diagnosis menu is ECU 56 vehicle speed error.

Were you riding in the rain or recently washed the bike?

The early speed sensors were notorious for screwing up like this.

Take off the sensor, dry it with a hairdrier. dip it in varnish, (Prefferably dialectric but it really isn't important.) let it dry thoroughly and re-install.

There is a later part# supercession for an 'Improved' sensor. No point in worrying about it in my book. easier to fix yourself in the back yard for pennies.

We have had rain for about a week and i think thats what did it. I took her out Sunday for about 3hr and she fixed her self. I'm going to see if i can seal it up with some silicone today.

Have they fixed this problem? If I got a new one would it be sealed up better? The Griso is under warranty and if the part is better now i might have them throw it on.

Thanks Pete  Thumbsup

Like most things the factory does they spoil the ship for a happ'orth of tar. The sensor, which is a very simple hall effect pick-up is made poorly and allows water in. Then it shorts out and makes the dashboard shit its pants. As I said, the fix is easy. A dialectric varnish is best but many people have found trhat silicone works well too. Just make sure it is DRY before you seal it, (Where the cable enters the sender.) or you're simply making sure the problem persists.

Yes, you can take it to your dealer, they can order the part, you can wait for it to arrive and be fitted and how many days will that be without the bike? Or you can just dry it up and seal it, about 1/2 an hour of your life! Leaving all the rest of that time to disport yourself on the couch coated in whipped cream being licked by 'Big Girls'. Your choice?!?!?!?!
