Hi just bought a new honda st1300 after a short ride, the battery does not seem to have enough power to start the bike. I leave the bike on a battery tender also. the other day i left the bike in gear in my drive way, and when i put the bike in neutural the engine didn't turn over, i read that some people don't use the off switch but just turn the key. any thoughts? Thanks

Any thoughts?
Yes.
How long was the bike sitting on the showroom floor?
What model is your battery tender... the Junior or the Plus?
If it is brand new, I would go back to the dealer and see if they'll throw in a new battery.

I think maybe the bateery never was fully charged at the dealer, i use a regular tender i will get the plus battery tender and fully charge the battery. I don't think the dealer will through in a new battery, as the service department said honda hates paying for those

You're better off just getting a new battery.

And beware the initial charging process or you'll be back to square one in no time.

The dealer won't throw in a new battery now...you bought the bike THREE months ago.

Was the kickstand down when you tried to start it? I think the ST1300 might also have an interlock such that you must either be in neutral, or have the clutch in. If the clutch switch is busted, you have to be in neutral to start.

My '03 still has the original battery...8 years old! Had to jump it this spring for the 1st time ever. Since then it's started / run fine.
One of these days I'll have to get around to replacing it....just in case!

Impressive! I still have my OEM battery in my 2007. It died once (kid playing with windscreen) but charged up no problem.

If this bike is only 3 months old and the battery is faulty that battery better be covered under the 3 year (or 1?) factory warranty. If not I would find a different dealer.
I bought an 04 CBR1000RR in 2007 and the battery was toast after 2 days. It was replaced by the dealer who said so much for their fancy equipment telling them the battery was fine. It was definately a shorted battery. They also should be testing the side stand switch, the clutch switch, and the charging system (Regulator & rectifier).
