I came across a Honda I'm not familiar with, it is an 01 924 (I think). What is it intended to do and is it a good quality bike ?

2001 Honda 929, I'm guessing. Sport bike. Very nice but dated compared to the latest and greatest in that area.

there were two versions, the 929 followed by the 954, not sure the years. the rep was more comfy riding position compared to other liter bikes of the period, better for ST work. lighter, quicker handling. less power, but easier to ride. dated, of course, it's 10 years old. but a good bike if you find one in decent shape. i don't think they ever won the comparos, due to the smaller motor making less power, so maybe those who bought them were less squidly and took better care of the bikes....

More comfortable than the R1's etc, lighter and better handling. Often called a smarter real world litre bike.
The 954 is possibly the best litre bike to convert to a Sport Tourer.

I have an '03 w/50k on it and I agree completely! a corbin seat, double bubble screen and throttlemeister and it is ready to hit the road. Rode it to the west coast and back last year and had a blast.

Just got my 954 readied with Givi top-case and soft saddle bags. The previous owner installed an Ohlins Steering damper and it is very stable. There is more than enough power for solo ST work.

I too just got a givi for mine (monolock 30) - how are you mounting yours? I got a spare passenger seat to sacrafice and bolt it, since any other mounting would require mot detailed fabricatinon.
I've gone through one set of soft bags already on mine, as the pipe is quasi-high mount.
Definitely a great commuter, ST'r. Headed to Cape Breton on mine in about 1 week.
