&hnearSo who is attending this year ?? !!  Bigsmile

Post up if you are coming and we will get an idea of numbers. I will add some info in a couple of weeks on accommodation options. If you are thinking of a motel, send me a PM as there are some good and some not so good. There will be space for a limited number of tents in my backyard. Tons of space alphabetman and lizzabets for tents and I usually have some extra bedrooms and a couple of couches. But we will deal with that a bit later

For now ... Is you is or is you ain't ??!!  Cool

1057 Wildrose Rd.  The map is wrong as it has mislabelled Broadwater Rd.
The easiest way to get here from downtown Castlegar is to head north on Columbia Ave, cross the long bridge over the Columbia River and take the third left after the bridge - Raspberry Rd - the third left again is Wildrose Rd and I will have my bike parked out on the driveway.

If you get lost call me at 250 365 7445 and I will ride out and meet you ... but you owe me a beer!  Lol

Accomodation ... So far most folks are looking at camping or ... ?

In past years we give away the bedrooms to couples and da women folks and those travelling long distance to get here. Fair is fair? .  I have three bedrooms available. One with a Queen, one with a double and one with a single bed that is also large enough to haul in a nice mattress. Downstairs is a Futon and Gallo's couch. Sorry, Gallo loves his couch so you are sharing ...    ... beyond that we have some floor space, blow up mattresses and our deck, whick ... I think is a great place to put up a simple tent without a fly. Weather is everything but it is hot for the forseeable future ( into the 90's F today  and hotter to come ) Easily accomodate about 8 tents in the yard and if you can, alphabet/lizzabet's cabin is preferred camping.

So having read that, PM me with your wants and lets see what we can do ... IF you are thinking of motelling it or camping locally give me a PM as well as there are some places better than others ... IF there are competing interests in the rooms ... I put names in a hat and have my daughter draw them out ...

OH, I should say also that one of the limiting factors in getting to alphabetman's  place is those who are not riding. I have vehicles enough to carry 12 people only. So, if you are staying here, and could by ability or bike ... stay at A'mans ... that would be appreciated as well ...

OK ... back to painting ....

Bob .. are you booked already?  I was going to call them and see if we could get a group rate. Have not done that ... would you inquire on behalf of the group ??

They seemed very expensive last year for a couple of attendees ....

I'm always the second to sign up.

We'll either tent or take up the accomodations of previous years if that's possible.

Sure missed it last year.

ZED & I are there!!!  Four day weekend already booked...

If there is a bed available to us, we'd be happy to sleep in it.  If not, please reserve a small tent space in the back yard. Bigok

I am booked. When I emailed them for rates, I got the info below, which of course isn't group rates. I booked a single room. I've stayed with them before, and really liked the place. It's a tiny motel with not many rooms (I guess you know that), but great people, very friendly and bike friendly. They gave us rags to clean our bikes and told us to move them under shelter since it was supposed to rain.

A single room with one double bed, a small fridge and microwave for
$75/night plus taxes.

A Double Room with a queen bed and TV in the bedroom and a queen bed
in the main room with another TV, small fridge and microwave for
$85/night plus taxes.

A fully equipped Kitchen Suite with a queen bed in the bedroom, a
double sofabed and a single bed in the main room for $95/night plus
taxes.

All of our rooms are non-smoking and there is wireless internet
available as well.  We have a BBQ in the gazebo that our guests are
welcome to use.

I stayed at the Cozy Pines in 2007 when I crashed, and they were not friendly and supportive of a guy who had just crashed a bike and was hurt. I decided then they would not get my business again. The rooms were clean and decent though. They have no rates on their website, but my 2009 BC Accommodations Guide says their rooms are $69-$90 plus $5 for each additional person, so it appears they are similar in price to the Flamingo.

I'll email the Flamingo though and see if they will give group rates.

I may attend, (Should know this week sometime).

I am travelling the week before down to Beartooth Pass and may swing up your way on my return home through Idaho. I am traveling to Beartooth with a group of 6, and a couple of them may be able to tag along.

Of course I will need to terrorize Nelson for a night or two also as I have heard Mikes place is in financial trouble since my expense account dried up. Sad

Baz, KLR Chickie....all you Albertastan residents: any suggestions for a route north from Missoula, MT to intercept Canada Hwy 3 west into Castlegar?

Planning my BBBBQ trip route and this year, I am definitely riding US 12 (Lolo Pass Road) from Lewiston to Missoula, MT. I need suggestions from there north into Alberta Eastern BC and then Castlegar.  Any ideas?

Thumbsup I'm in.  And Mrs Sputnik is a"most likely", as long as grand-baby #3 has not arrived by then.
So a bed or couch if available, otherwise we will motel it.

Galo, there are a number of good options:

1) If you've never done Glacier NP / Going to the Sun Road, then  this is probably best

2) If you don't want Glacier NP or Waterton NP, then:

c) If you want Glacier / Waterton NP, and a free bed and breakfast in Lethbridge, and company along Hwy 3, then this:

My variation would be to pop over to the 83 to head north through Montana.  We rode that road last fall & found it quite enjoyable with good high speed sweepers and very little traffic.

Getting into southern Alberta will get you onto some boring roads rather quickly.  Our preference is to keep our riding to BC as much as possible.

The Missoula to Kalispell road is a highway, often busy, not much to see.
If you have time, go via Seeley and Swan lake, along the east side of Flathead, etc.  it's a much more rural 2 lane.  Nice ride, and actually will take only a bit more time.
