Theres are deals too be had on the extended warranty.  Head over to the cog forum and do a search.  There are several high mileage Connies out there.  A 2008 recently turned 100,000.  Our own JamminJere has well over 60k on his as well.

My 2009 has had zero problems for the last 17k miles.  I will get the extended warrenty.  The only thing that has been done was fix a seal on the drive shaft boot that had like 1 drop of oil on it.  Otherwise the bike has performed for me.

Change the oil at around 5k, change the air filter if needed and its all good.  Love the bike.

I have 32,000mi. on my '09, not one problem.
I'm not a fan of extended warrenties, if I keep this bike until the three year warranty expires (feb. 2012) it'll be a miracle....
Don't get me wrong, it's a great bike that I really enjoy riding but I've got bike ADD real bad. Embarassment

i have an 08 with over 55k on it.  ive had my share of issues, and my original warranty just expired this month.  i purchased the extended warranty when i bought the bike.

think about it this way, there is not a whole lot on this bike that you can fix (at dealer prices) for less than $627.  spread that 'insurance' over 3 years and its a steal.  thats alot of tire pressure sensors (of which im on my third set)!

you can still do your own maintenance and life goes on as normal.  shredding the notice was probably not the smartest thing, but some people like taking unnecessary risks.  its not a good deal 'if' nothing ever breaks down.  my issues started full swing after 30k, so i wish some of you 'non takers' the best of luck! I just hate to waste the cash but the TPS sensors are $300 a pop. i originally thought it would be a waste but for the discounted $339 price, it may make sense.

This should get you to the COG site explaining the discounted warranty extension.

$339 looks a bunch better then $627.
