Ya know, I remember the Wings playing them in the '96(?) playoffs when the fans booed the American national anthem. Not just a few but it sounded like the whole feckin' arena. Also they had this huuuuuge picture of the queen that they'd turn their attention to during the Canadian anthem. That being said I'm happy for the people of Winnipeg. I think they'll apreciate an NHL team more than Atlanta. Now Thrasher fans I feel bad for you but Atlanta has had 2 cracks at the NHL experience and it hasn't worked. A lot of that has to do with ownership but still. The team was bleeding the league dry, much like Phoenix  Crazy but that's another story.

So good on you Winnipeg  Thumbsup

Sooooo... this time next year and we'll have 8 teams in the NHL? Quebec maybe

Booing ?  The Queen is a separate issue. I am glad she bugs you. It is one of the differences between our worlds. She will be there again. Be lucky we don't sing God Save the Queen.  Twofinger

Maybe call them the Manitoba Jets. When I think of the Rider Nation here in SK, it definitely helps in a province with a small population to try to build a sense that it is the province's team. Let's see a Jets Nation.

Manitoba Moose!

I was hoping they'd move Detroit into the Eastern Conference but it looks like it'll be the Blue Jackets.  Bummer.   Bigok

There will be ongoing speculation as to what the league is gonna do. I've already heard the Caps are pissin' and moaning that they are gonna have to travel aaaalll the way to Winnipeg and are non too happy about that. The response from the HNIC hosts was "Be glad you're not Detroit or Vancouver with their travel. Quict your bitchin'." Personally, I'm hoping for a MLB type of format or a north/south coference. Let everybody travel the same every year. Let's even the playing field  Bigok  Sadly, that probably won't happen as the eastern teams have a lot of pull  Thumbsdown

Winnipeg seems to think they'll support an NHL team based on Moose attendance.  Moose tickets are substantially cheaper than any NHL seats.

As for the team name?  North End Drive Bys?  Manitoba Flood?

I got 10 bucks (10.21 US) says they don't keep the name.  They're waffling too much about it.

Not while that giant penis is sitting in the commissioner's chair. If he had it his way, there would be NO Canadian NHL teams.

Me thinks they should stick with the "Manitoba Moose" format, and they should have their first exibition game in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan.

I can hear the Florida TV announcers now. Lol

Jets - I always thought that was sort of a lame name.
