Sayyyyyy you're going on an exotic vacation, and sayyyyyy you want to rent a bike for the day to go poke around the area (with passenger).  Which bike would you choose from the list above?

The R bike is supremely comfortable for passengers.

The only one I have experience with is the RT1150 and, I wuz mightily impressed with how much fun it wuz in the twisty bits.

The luggage and heated grips were a bonus

There is not a huge amount if difference between your choices. So unless I wanted to try one out in preperation for a future buy, I would just go with the cheapest one.

I'd do the RT if it was two up.  GT if solo.

I briefly demo'd an RT,  I liked it & all,  but cant really compare it to the other 2...

Given some of the responses, I'm curious...  is the back seat on the GT,  THAT uncomfortable?

after thinking about it and since you are riding two up, the most important thing is which bike comes with a topbox/back rest for the passenger. Not having one takes a lot of the fun out. You can never give the bike any gas without first worring about have to buy the t-shirt.

Depends on where I was going.  I'd go w/ the RT if I was 2 up.  If alone then by all means the K

Whichever it is...............make sure it is insured for a small fee and then watch the Seinfeld episode where he rented a car once and got the optional insurance so he could tear the car up!

K bike definitely. I have rode both and the Boxer is a turd compared to the GT.
Don't get me wrong, the RT is a nice bike and I could live with one. But, this is a rental and the GT is FAST and smooth.
I haven't rode the Kawie, so I can't comment. I wanted to rent one, but the place had rented the only one they had and I rented a FJR instead.

Shit, the rental place only has Harleys.  Nope, we're not wrestling around an 800 lb barges.   I guess we'll scoot around on Piaggios instead. Burnout

Nope, we're not wrestling around an 800 lb barges.

I test rode a Harley back in the late 1980s and its handling didn't suck completely.

If your speeds are gonna be kept down by narrow roads, the difference between a Harley and a moped might be a coin toss  Cool

if a vacation is a chance to go places that are new to you, and have experiences you've not had before, renting a Harley might be exactly the right thing to do ;-}

another thing to consider...

the relatively low speeds on narrow roads combined with high temperatures can make riding behind a fairing uncomfortably warm.

We're renting an RT for our Cali trip in July.  We'll see if I made the right choice in about a month.  Either way, I'm on a bike in northern california on vacation...how bad can it get?
