All I know is I need to get a battery connect for my Gerbing on Saturday or I'm going to be one cold mofo in the passes..........

Meh...  Who needs electric clothes?  It's called "layering"!!!   Bigsmile   I may be looking a tad like Bibendum, but I'll be warm enough, I guess.   Wink

I just haven't got around to buying any, so I'm just jealous...   Razz

Not a bad idea except for the possibility of ice in the morning on 20, as mentioned before.

What is this "morning" you speak of?   Bigsmile

And while the weather can be fickle, my jacket wasn't working on the ride to Castlegar last Saturday and I was fine. Of course I was glad that it worked for the ride home - it does make a ride so much more enjoyable  Inlove

I'm out. Stopped by Video Isle in Fremont and some goddamn ditz in town from Vashon backed over the EX. It's rideable but the faring stay is cracked so the mirror is completed pusched in towards the instrument cluster, the windshield is cracked, and the fairing is cracked. The right side muffler has a nice new scuff from her car and the left one has a nice scuff from the curb. Motherfucker. Got her insurance information and phone number. PM to Tritium now. At least she's liable for this fuck up. Bash  Mad2 Mad2 Mad2

Damn! if she's got legit insurance I smell suspension upgrades.  Unless they total it, which probably wouldn't take much.  I hate that.  At least you were there for it, most people do that and then drive off.   You're lucky if they even leave a "sorry I'm an idiot" post-it stuck to your now dented gas tank.   Rolleyes

WATCH FOR LEO's !!!!! Watch for the jerk in Marblemont AND the last time I went over Washington pass there was a WSP going back and forth over the pass pulling over bikes. He pulled us over just to warn us...we weren't even speeding. After he pulled us over we watched him chasing a ZX11 up the hill going the other way.

Her insurance is legit. I used to work for PEMCO and that's her carrier. She wants to pay cash and not go through her insurance. I know why, fuck up with PEMCO and they drop you in a heartbeat. Making calls to get an estimate now. Since she fucked up the fairing stay and fairing she's going to pay out a nice chunk of change, even on an EX.

After today I'm not really inclined to ride someone else's bike anywhere except to work and back. At least I know where I park at work and at home nothing is going to happen and frankly getting out on 20 or whatever is like tempting fate (gravel, cars pulling out, tickets, oil, whathaveyou). Thanks for the offer though. Smile

Getting the estimate tomorrow at Lake City. An aquaintance of mine works there.

I'm just glad that nobody was hurt. All things considered, it's always better to have a dumbass back over a parked bike than to have said dumbass hit you while you're on it.

I wonder if she's realizes how much damage she incurred - she might change her mind about wanting to sidestep her insurance company when she finds out. I guess we'll see tomorrow when she gets the quote from lake city kawasaki. Smile From what I've seen, EX parts aren't significantly cheaper than parts for more expensive bikes.

Did she manage to bend the handlebars, too? (worse than I had already bent one side, I mean Wink

Either way, don't stress about it. My only concern is that she'll try to weasel out of paying for the repairs, but having her insurance info seems like a pretty safe deal.

Hey, Adam, extra kudos to you for being so cool about this, and in general for lending Biz-man your bike.   Clap Clap

Sorry to hear about the crumpling of the loaner, Fritz.  And  Hail to Tritium for his support and coolness.  I've got a Schwinn Moab II I'd be willing to lend to a fellow member, but it stops there.

It looks like it's shaping up to be a beautiful weekend.  Enjoy, folks.

Someday we'll convince him to offer up one of the daughters... someday... Inlove

Anywhoo, back to reality.  Here's a brief, incomplete checklist for people:

-  ibuprofen (or OTC pain reliever) - start by taking a couple in the morning, and then a couple every gas and rest stop.  Don't exceed recommended doseage (by too much).  This will help with butt soreness, and keep you in a generally good mood as the day ends.

- hydration - either bring 3-5 containers of fluids with you, or plan on buying them at the gas stops.  Please rehydrate at every stop.  Also might want to bring some quick snacks (protein bars, m&ms, personal chef) to keep energy up.

- check the bike - tire pressure, brakes, electrics, yada yada yada, your usual checklist.  I have a 12v compressor and tire repair kit on the viffer for minor flats.  Bring any special tools that might be useful for your bike, to do roadside repairs.

- do you have your papers - have your license, registration, insurance cards if you have it, and riders club card(s) if you have those.  And bring gas money (or credit cards).

- sun glasses or tinted shield

- clothing layers - The passes will be chilly, and Eastern Wa. will probably be warm.  Have layers that can be added and removed accordingly.

- and everything else that I didn't write here.

My cell contact is (two-0-six) two-four-0 - one-0-nine-five.

That's great!  Could you bring a spare innertube and a couple of tire irons also?  Smile

OTC?  I prefer the heavy duty stuff.  Bigok  Of course after the ride, not during.

Thanks for the tips.  I think I'm as ready as I can be.  Bought some new raingear yesterday, but sure hope it isn't needed.  Sorry I won't get to meet bizarro.
