For those of you that have Arai helmet and use Contour video camera, where on the helmet did you mount the camera?  Top, sides?

Thanks

Not sure but I just purchased a Contour HD 1080 camera and awaiting delivery to use with my Scorpion EXO 900 helmet or maybe some way to rig it on the Tiger!

Will let you know what I find.  I rather somehow rig it to my handlebars to record my rides.

Place it on the side.  Over the left ear.... closer to the center of the road, can turn off/on with the left hand.  Recordings from the top of the helmet look weird.  ContourHD 1080, GoProHD 1080... both work great on the left side, Arai/Shoei/etc.  Can see example here...

Great video.  What program did you use to edit your video (adding music and caption).
Also, what video settings have you used on the camera?

In regard to mooring, you basically mounted on one of the ear pods?

Thanks

Sony Vegas was the editing program.

Most of the time I have the ContourHD 1080p capturing 1280x720 at 60f/s.  I like the 135 degree wide angle... not too extreme, and it approximates what the eye sees from the saddle.  Nothing is perfect however.  And that 60f/s versus the typical 30f/s is smooooth.  I wish the ContourHD 1080p captured 1920x1080p with the 135 wide angle, but it doesn't.  The GoProHD 1080p defaults to these dimensions however.  Of course, what you saw at YouTube was reduced significantly for web distribution versus what I watch/see locally here on the PC.

Stick the side mount with the rotating velcro cap on the side of your helmet.  The rotating cap within the mount will help you vertically orient the cam, and the laser lights will help set the horizontal orientation.  You will have periods of trial and error, and if it helps any, I've made every onboard video recording mistake, and I routinely repeat them.  Lol

I just use Velcro.

Here is a video from over the weekend with it mounted to a PASGT Helmet during an airsoft game.

I use the same style of velcro on my MC helmet also.  Just some 3M stuff.  I'm not sure what velcro the rotating mount uses but I get my stuff from work and we use it on military aviation equipment.

Edit-Guess a link to the video should help

Nice.  I've been really impressed with the quality of the video out of this camera.

Looks really good. I have a GoPro, but I'm getting incredibly sick of not being able to figure out if the thing is on, or off, running, or not. It has the advantage of a bajillion different mounting locations, but that's sod all use if it's not running when you think it is.

Anyone any comments on other than helmet mounts for it? I typically run the GoPro on the bars, but there's lots of cool places.

There is a bicycle bar mount that would easily fit most any motorcycle by Contour for like $30.  I thought about getting it but decided  would wait and see how the helmet cam mount works.
