CHARLEY Boorman will be riding a motorcycle across Canada this summer, filming a new TV series.
The series will be called Extreme Frontiers Canada starts in Newfoundland and will follow Boorman to British Columbia. He'll be travelling with a support vehicle.
This is the Brit that did the Road of Bones?
Wait'll he gets a load of the 401.

I'm assuming here that he won't repeat the same road he took on 'Long Way Round'. That was just pretty much TCH all the way after dropping down from Alaska.
Nothing much to comment on other than when Ewen got rear ended by some dopy pot head kid in a Civic!
I bet he takes the Labrador connection through to Queerbec if he's riding a GS. Who knows though? Maybe he'll be on a Gold wing and he'll do the Cabot Trail!

Well at least Charley won't be very far from a Tim Hortons while he's exploring Canada's "Extreme Frontiers".

WooHooo!! Just caught the first breathless reports on this HUGE adventure!!
The 'crew' have been on a lobster boat! They've been to a tourist site in Newfoundland. And a REAL dangerous expedition to a cemetery in downtown Halifax!!
What more death defying experiences lie in wait??
Charlie says he 'Wants to get under the skin of Canadians'...
So far, so good, Charlie... So far, so good...

on a more serious note
I'm still fascinated by this "as far north as you can go" thing that doesn't include Alaska.
I know it's flat and featureless yet, I'm still drawn to places on the edge of the universe

Well, at least they're stopping and seeing everything along the way, which is what Ewan was complaining about (not doing) in Long Way Down, right?
So perhaps EXTREME Frontiers is a bit of a misnomer. Actually I'd like to see the word wiped from the vernacular.
Every time I hear

anything, I about want to

I can't wait to watch Charlie deal with the black flies & mosquito's.
'Twas early in the spring when I decide to go
For to work up in the woods in North Ontar-i-o;
And the unemployment office said they'd send me through
To the Little Abitibi with the survey crew
And the black flies, the little black flies,
Always the black fly no matter where you go;
I'll die with the black fly a-pickin' my bones,
In North Ontar-i-o-i-o, in North Ontar-i-o.
For the americans who have no idea what we're talking about......
Love the National Film Board of Canada Vignettes.

I have never seen that one. Bloody priceless.
With my last Job, I used to get up to the Pas Manitoba. My original instructions for travel was to fly into Winnipeg, rent a car drive a 100 Km North and then let the black flies carry me the rest of the way.
The Supt. of the mill there was an avid golfer who demanded to go golfing everytime I was in town. Black flies laugh at any deet products.
I recently had to travel with a Gas production operater to a remote site on the Air Weapons range in Northern Alberta. When I met up with him on the side of the road to ride in his Argo, he was dressed in full bee keepers head gear. I knew I was in trouble then.
Let's just say I didn't need to eat any protein for a week because of all the black files and horse flies I swallowed. The swarms of mosquito's were a joke really.
This is another one of my favorites...

N.F.B. shorts are the BEST! I love the 'Cat came Back' one too!
I figure the video crew will HAVE to find a moose somewhere and throw that in there as an 'extreme' sighting.
A ride through Montreal on the Ville Marie Expressway at 7 a.m. would be a much better 'wildlife' experience...

The allure of the far north has been diminished somewhat.
