Ok, I know, totally different bikes, but after scouring all possible forums, I have yet to find anyone that says anything pro or con about using the Speedmaster for a LD ride.  I'm buying a Triumph, that's for certain, and am really loving the SM's retro looks.  But I'll be doing some serious up-the-east-coast and out-west rides to meet up with scattered family members.  Any and all advice will be greatly appreciated.   Cool

Have you ridden either one? If not, you need to go to your local Triumph dealer and ride both! I own a Sprint and have done more than a few 1200 mile days in the sadle, two up with all three bags fully loaded and never had any problems. I've never owned or traveled any long distance on a cruiser, so I have no opinion there, but if you're looking for tons of fun while on a long ride, I think the Sprint is the way to go!

I owned an America before I got my Sprint.  I put around 5000 miles on the America in half the season with fair weather riding.  I rode a fair bit on it, so to speak.  I've done a fair amount of riding on the Sprint as well so far (1400 miles and I bought it in November).  Both are comfortable over long distances in my opinion.  It really boils down to what you are looking for in a bike.  I honestly think that either of them would be fine for long distance riding.  It just depends on how you want to do it.  I could throw the America around in the curves, but it's no Sprint in that regard.  If that type of riding isn't a big deal to you, then go for the Speedmaster.  I don't think either of them will disappoint you.

If you can't find any pro/con info on the Speedmaster and Ironbutt type riding is maybe there is little to no info available. Choose the Speedmaster and maybe be the first. It is really a sweetlooking bike. I don't know how comfortable it will be with the feet out and the tailbone carrying all the body weight for any length of time though.
