Borscht in the Motherland

I'm sitting in a pretty classy hotel just on the outskirts of Kiev, listening to the band playing for a wedding. Sounds like a pretty rockin' party. The groom spotted my bike this afternoon and got the photographer to take a few pics of him with it. Kinda hoped I might get an invite but truth be know, I'm not sure I've got the bottom for a downhome Ukrainian wedding!
They have a pretty good restaurant here and I tried the Borscht today, it was good but not in the same class as Lizzabets!
Was out on the highway for a little scouting run today, man, it moves! The outside two lanes are marked 130 but if you go outside, you better have the hammer down cause them cars are doing more like 150!
Got a speeding ticket about 30 klicks inside the Ukraine, came over a hill and evidently, the speed limit went down to 50, I'd backed off a bit but they still got me at 96. Apologised profusely, said I hadn't seen any sign and I was real sorry but the cop showed me the book of fines and told me to pay up. Cost me about $26.00.
Going to be an adjustment getting on the roads back home, kind of got to like the attitude here. If you figure you got room, go for it, split lanes in the cities, nobody gives you a second glance, 'cept for the guys that give you a thumbs up. Split oncoming on the highway, most folks ease over to give you some room. Confess I puckered a little the first couple times I tried that!
Trophy has picked up a few battle scars along the way but it has been a peach to ride. Took an old Russian gentleman for a tour and he was pretty impressed. Kinda put his old Ural right in the shade.

Started in Edinburgh, ferried from Newcastle to Amsterdam, rode from there through the Balkans, Bulgaria, Romania, Moldova, Ukraine and on into Buguruslan about 200 km east of Samara. Hung out at my girlfriends place for about a month and am on the way back to the UK now.
No sign of Charley and Ewan but have seen quite a few BMWs.
