Dirty Trick:
I was shooting breeze the with the owner of the local Triumph dealer a couple of weeks ago.  I mentioned that I was riding down to a BMW rally the following weekend.  He suggested I take the new Tiger XC demo to the rally to see what the Beemer guys and gals think of the new model.  I said that would be at least a 1200 mile round trip.  He said that's why we have demo bikes.

I rode the bike to the rally.  Got a lot of reaction at the rally.  Lots of questions and people taking pictures.

Result:
To make a long story short I fell in love with the Tiger.  Its a fantastic bike on the highway and gravel back roads.
The Sprint is going out the door and the Tiger is will be my new touring mount if I can swing the deal I want.

Stay tuned...

 Thumbsup

And that is the real reason they have demo bikes.

I sure wish more did...

I fell for the "free ride trick" as well.  I test rode a Sprint ST, and after getting back to the dealer, I bought one!  Sneaky!   Lol

Triumph really knows how to sell their bikes.  Try asking that of a Ducati dealer.

BTW, bought my 2008 sprint without even riding it.  Was afraid I made a terrible decision, until I fell in love riding it home.

All the Duc dealers I've been to have always very eagerly handed me the keys, and I'm only 26.

That's one savvy dealer! Obviously lots of confidence in his brand, as well as the OP to not crash the demo. It's just too bad none of the Japanese have demo programs.

And I saw that nice orange Tiger with the sidecases and top box, too, parked right out front of rally HQ. I passed through on a local ride that day, and noticed the ND plates. You might want to hug your dealer for letting you go out for that kind of test ride.

The bags are large except for the one on the right where the exhaust is.  I can easily get a helmet in the top box with room to spare.  I do have enough room to carry everything I need to go camping for 7 days.

Funny you mention buying the FJ after testing a Sprint.  I took a new BMW K1600 for a test ride a few weeks ago.  It was a fantastic bike but just to big.  I was considering getting a big touring bike(Gold Wing/FJ/K 1600) but that is not for me right now.   The Tiger is perfect for me and the type of riding I like to do.

Glad to hear your enjoying your bike!

Just finished a comparo on the BMW 800gs vs. the Tiger 800.  Tiger won, but the GS wins for dirt.

I like my Triumphs, both triples, and would likely love that engine.  Maybe when I consider myself old (j/k - I have abuddy I give shit to when he rides his 800gs - he also has a Desmosedici, 1098R, Bimota DB6 Delerio, GSXR750 track bike, etc...I call it his old man bike...)
