I have a trip planned for the July 4th weekend (few days before and a few after) from VT to Cape Breton.

We made the trip last year and loved it, and no one had enough time to go to Tennessee / NC this year so we figured we go back. Last year we missed the Bay of Fundy, so this year the first night we're planning on camping in that area (New Brunswick side). Any suggestions on a campsite or cheap motel? A leanto would be preferable, but I can fit a tent on the old Honda in a pinch.

Also- after two nights in Cheticamp, we're headed back West with Saturday night open. Any suggestions? Any destinations in NS or NB particularly great? I've heard of some attractions a bit south of St. John that sound cool.

One final note - does anyone know if rt. 2 through Maine is still torn up?

I don't have exactly what you're looking for, but given locations and my experience I thought I would suggest a look at Cobscook Bay State Park in Maine just outside of Lubec.  It was an excellent park to camp in and the ride from there to the top end of Lake Champlain offered some great roads and scenery.  Worth checking Lubec for cheap lodging too.  It was definitely beyond the regions most tourists visit.

My ride report wasn't particularly well-detailed, but you may find some use in it (http://www.sport-touring.net/forums/index.php/topic,55251.0.html ).  I still have my route somewhere, I think.  Can dig it up if you're interested.

Also, I didn't do it, but you can cross over to a Canadian island from Lubec on a bridge and then catch two short ferries to New Brunswick, rather than crossing in Calais.  Just an option.

Subscribed.  One of my plans for this fall is a ride to the Cabot Trail...so I am very interested in learning what your experiences are...

TIA!

Pitch your tent above the high water mark! Sorry, I couldn't resist.
