Saw on the news there is a 100 mile detour due to fire/smoke nr Trinidad.....

Yeah, just saw that too, due to the wildfire. The detour is 160 east from Trinidad, 385 south, then 212 west to Springer (from the north). That'll put a dent in your travels.
