Question/Advice from the Hayabusa (GenII) Enthusiast
«
on:
June 15, 2011, 07:54:50 AM »
I currently ride a FJR1300A, but have always lusted after the Suzuki Hayabusa (GenII) model. I believe it was '05 or '06 Suzuki did a two tone Blue/Silver. Do you foresee them ever bringing the color back?? Growing up my Aunt use to drive a Blue/Silver 280ZX and I have loved that color scheme ever since.
Thanks for your input.

How many licks does it take to get to the Tootsie Roll center of a Tootsie Pop?

No one knows what colors they will be releasing besides Suzuki. Although I'd suggest posting over on Hayabusa.org, they may have more inside info/rumors available.

Thanks Justin. I wasn't sure if there was a trend in the colors....but it sounds more like a shot in the dark.
From looking at the pic. of your bike you do some serious riding. I didn't see it listed, but do you have the Heli Bars or Genmar Risers? I'm 6'1 and if I do get one I'm looking at installing the Heli Bars.

I just have 1 inch risers from soupy's performance to raise the stock bars up an inch over stock. Can kinda see it in the pic below. They are kinda ugly, but they get the job done.
They work for me, but I am only 5' 10" - at 6' 1", you might want to go with the Heli-bars instead

The previous gen ones in black/blue were tasty...
I don't like the newer ones, personally.

How do you like your screen for long trips?

The screen is fine for long trip, about as much wind protection as you can get on a sport bike. With the lip in the full down position, wind hits my chest just like stock when sitting upright. With the lip in the full up position, wind is on your helmet and off your body when sitting more upright. I am 5' 10" to put it in perspective. However, you have to note that with the Hayabusa, the riders body is built into the aerodynamic profile, so you will always will have a good amount of wind.

I have 1 inch risers
and
helibars.
You need longer lines, but it makes the Bus (almost) comfortable for me.
I have also owned a FJR. Great mile muncher.
A word of caution
- the riding positions are
very
different between the 2 bikes.
The Bus has much less legrom than the FJR. Even with the pegs 1 and a quarter inches lower (using Buell pegs), the Bus has your legs up quite a bit.
Having said all that, she is a superb bike, with the best engine in motorcycling, IMHO.
I have bitten the proverbial bullet, and I am about to get serious and do this:
After 7500 km, I have had enough of the bent over position. I do not want to sit bolt upright, though.
Low bars are great for the twisties, but a pain in the arse (back, actually) for any kind of distance work.
The Bus will make a magnificent SPORT tourer.
YMMV.

Any screen clearance issues with that set up?

The front brake reservoir
just
scrapes the screen at full lock.
