I've always had a thing for mountain passes, I just think they are cool, and usually very beautiful places. So post up your pass pics if you've got em Smile

Here's some I pulled out of my riding pics from the last year, that I wanted to share.

Berthoud Pass - US 40 Colorado

Gore Pass - CO-134

Poncha Pass - US 285 Colorado

Cumberland Pass - some crap dirt road a sport bike had no business on Between Pitkin and Tincup Colorado. I think this may have played a part in the early demise of my fork seals Smile

Cottonwood Pass - CO RD 306, West of Buena Vista

Independence Pass - CO 82

La Veta Pass - US 160 CO

Indy Pass again - this one is one of my faves, almost looks like an ad. I'm not a great photographer, this was just luck.  Lol

More to come..

It blows me away thinking about those 10-12k altitudes.  We go a little higher than 6k in the Appalachians.

I think I have a few, somewhere -- Molas, Coal Bank, Red Mountain, etc. Oddly, I seem to have missed most of the NM ones.

Tried to stop to get Douglas pass on CO139 last week, but the wind at the top was fierce enough I was afraid that the bike was going to blow over on the kickstand. That's a low one, too, at, what? 8,000' or so.

At about 39k now - registered oct, 2009 with 9k. So far no issues other than routine maint. and fork seals due to me abusing it Smile

Well, I did get Cumberland pass on the Busa - Think that is why I had to change the fork seals at 32k  Lol

And yeah, one of these days I will have an offroad machine. I've taken the Jeep Grand Cherokee over some, but it's not the same.

I hit a bunch of passes in CO when I was there for a week and a half.  Only stopped to snap a picture of this one.

Hoosier Pass (you can read the sign.)

I was wondering, what is the highest pass in the Continental US.  Both paved and unpaved.

Highest unpaved pass is  Argentine Pass in Colorado at 13,205 feet - and I think Independence pass is the highest paved in CO as well as the lower 48 at 12,103 feet

The highest continuous paved road is Trail Ridge (RMNP) at 12,183 ft, and the highest paved road is Mt Evans road at 14,120 ft.
