There are rumblings that due to the illegal immigrants pouring in from Africa & Asia, that EU countries might put border controls back in place  Sad

That would be sad indeed. The Wengen space is tremendous compared to our US - Canada border. No borders for European nationals. Although Switzerland isn't part of that, the worst we got was a Swiss border guard turn around, look at us for a second and just wave us through.  Thumbsup
We did however see the Finanzia, the Italian finance police, check cars coming from livignio. They don't check at the borders but catch you in places you can't avoid them.  Lol
They're mostly looking for contraband.

Been there, had lunch at the cafe up top and got to admire some seriously cool old bikes. Keep a picture of Stilsfer Joch/Stelvio on my desk at work.

No bike involved, you can't get there by road in winter, but this is me at the Col de l'Iseran last year. One day I will go there by bike in summer and take the corresponding photo.
