So, what's the problem?
What's with Beartooth Pass??
«

I'm on self-suported bicycling trip ... Portland/Eugene to Boston.
Currently at Missoula.
Yellowstone is next MAJOR destination. Then planning to climb Beartooth and go north on 78 out of Red Lodge.
Anybody know condition of road to Cooke City and Red Lodge, over Beartooth?
What with all the snow this year, I'm wondering if there's gonna be any road closure issues.
Any help/info is much appreciated!

Mike, the only advice i have for you is to dress warm.
To bad you can't run your gerbings off of that bike.

Your trip sounds fun!
Always wanted to do that kind or trip myself.
I assume you've checked the world wide web for the pass conditions?
http://www.mdt.mt.gov/travinfo/
Or do you want first hand info?
I do know one thing Montana was hammered this winter with snow and then the cool spring makes for a lot of snow hanging around right now. Lots of flooding right now I hear.
Anyway - good luck on your ride.

I'm in Cooke City right now. Basically I got through Beartooth last Sunday and it then closed on Monday due to snow. It's open again but there is construction up there now. It's supposed to snow in Cooke City tonight so I'm sure it'll snow on Beartooth.
I'll do my best to ask the inside scoop in the morning and report it.
Btw I'm heading to Missoula tomorrow.

Oh red lodge is dry and nice. Same with that side of the climb until you hit up top where you will be where there is snow on the side of the road all the way to Yellowstone.

I can see it in your post but not in Mr. Sunshine's quote.
Sent from my phone by typing letters on the screen.

Yup better. You aren't going up see it in my quote as the changes aren't reflected in there. The quote us a snapshot of when I made the quote.
Anyhow that actually looks much nicer than last Sunday when I went through. It was bad enough I only got a few shots like this one.
