Normal with a Guzzi
Don't feel alone, I did a one year clean up (just prior to taking it for its 12K service) and rode it to work the next day. About 3 or 4 miles in, on an interstate going 80, the engine light comes on with the oil can symbol on the LED dash.
I immediately pull the clutch and hit the kill switch, coasting to the side, thinking WTF! I know the oil level is OK and start it back up. All the lights and dash read normal. Continued on, got to work, and checked oil (OK). Been "normal" since. Think moisture got into the sending unit and caused a false oil emergency, at least I hope that's what happened.

One time I wuz riding my Duc and the red oil warning light came on. I immeditely pulled over, turned 'er off, and checked 'er over. Oil level correct, no leaks anywhere, oil sending unit intact. Started 'er up, light went off.
Hadn't had it come on while riding since. That was 20K miles ago...

I need a 1200 Sport in the garage. Either one of them or one of these:

Whenever something weird starts happening right after you've had a bike serviced.....all fingers point to something during the service as being what caused the weirdness.
This time that was a pure coincidence. It was the oil pressure sending unit making the light give an occasional flicker and the oil lamp appear - and since the sending unit is a known item to flake from time to time, I spoke with the shop and they ordered me a replacement. It only did it over the course of a couple of startups, and has only done it once since (the light flickered for about a second, just long enough to catch my eye). Red warning lights do get your attention though.
I put a set risers on, the excellent ones from MI that give just a bit of rise to the bars, makes a huge difference with almost no difference in appearance.
I just got an email that my Mistral exhaust shipped - looking forward to that bit of sonic coolness. Bike has about 12,300 miles on it and runs great. Puts a smile on my face every time I ride it.
