I searched with no luck for information about how you guys are packing your DSLR cameras. I have a Nikon D3000 that I would like to start taking along when I ride. I would really hate for something to happen. I have thought about making some kind of foam rubber inserts for one of my tank bags. My camera bag is too big to take along without just strapping it down to the back. I don't like the sound of that either. How do you guys do it? Am I being to worried about just putting it tank bag and rolling on?

Mine is in a Lowe camera case (nylon/foam thing) and easily fits into my tankbag (an RKA). Frankly, I want a smaller camera for motorcycle outings.

I can carry my "extended load out" (Nikon D3, 24-70 f2.8, 70-200 VRII f2.8, 14-24 f2.8 Nikon 2x converter, 105 f2.8 Micro and 16mm f2.8 fisheye in a Tenba shoulder bag that fits perfectly into my right saddlebag. Alternatively when I want to carry a little less I have a Kata sling bag that also fits perfectly in a saddlebag when I can do with a little less.

I put my D90 in my tank bag. It has the rubberized skin around it. So far so good.

I make sure I have packed some t-shirts or similar packed under my Canon EOS 5D. It goes in either the tank bag or topbox.
