It looks like Honda is going ahead with Crosstourer concept bike that was revealed last year.  The Aug issue of motorcyclist has a "leaked" photo of the new model.  Appears to be styled like an adv bike but apparently is truly a road only machine.   Has comfy ergos and plenty of room to hang bags, engine guards etc.    For those looking for a Honda 1200 v4 tourer this looks like the closest thing so far.   MC estimates its gonna be heavy and who knows what the fuel capacity will be so those who love to whine about such things probably should move on to a GS.   If they keep all the juice in that 1200 v4 it probably will end up being a better all 'rounder than the current 1200F.    Disparage at will.

Looks like they have a runner to me.

They've been busy, an auto tranny CBF type thingy and some type of scooter-esque machine as well.

I thought the Crosstour was based on the VFR800?  Those spy photos sure don't look like it.  Check out he swing arm and single front disc brake!

This is the Crosstour that looks better!

You are confusing the Crosstour which is based on the VFR1200, and the Crossrunner ( link ) which is based on the VFR800 and being sold in other markets.   :pokestick:

This latest spy pic of the Crosstour is pretty disappointing, like a KLR on steroids.  Maybe once it loses it's zebra stripes it will look better, like the concept photo.

Old thread, but news around the web today is that the Crosstourer has been officially confirmed as a 2012 model....  in the UK.

"Honda today confirms that the Crosstourer model unveiled as a concept at the 2010 EICMA show will go into mass production, and will be first revealed at the 2011 EICMA Milan show in early November, followed by its UK debut for customers to see at Motorcycle Live show from 19-27 November.

"The Crosstourer will deliver all the fun and excitement of a sports-tourer, with the comfortable, upright riding position and manoeuvrability of an adventure machine. It combines sports touring features, such as the powerful V4 engine configuration – also found in the VFR1200F – with long travel suspension, adventure focused riding position and dynamic off-road machine styling.

"Underpinned by Honda’s V4 expertise, the machine will also be offered with the option of Honda’s innovative second-generation Dual Clutch Transmission technology. The Crosstourer offers a unique and versatile package that will provide great all-weather, all-road capabilities.

"Yosuke Hasegawa, leader of the Crosstourer development team said, ‘The Crosstourer offers a high-level fusion of vibrant off-road styling, upright riding position, V engine power and Dual Clutch Transmission that offers more direct power transmission and easy operation. We are convinced that we have successfully brought out new value in what can be termed the true crossover concept.’"

What are the chances that it will be brought to the US, too?  Probably not so good.  The VFR1200 (that the Crosstourer is based upon) is still listed as only a 2010 US model, where it is still offered in the UK in the current model year.

Well well,  even Motorcyclist magazine gets it right from time to time.   Probably won't come to the states but ya never know.   Should be an interesting ride.

Have to say I find this design an improvement over the VFR1200F.

But to really hit it out of the park, they need to take serious aim at the BMW "GS".   Less plastic and more engine exposure, comfortable seats and riding position, a standard fuel capacity of six gallons, all at a competitive price.   Add a competitive selection of options, and strive to keep the weight under control.

They'll miss on "less plastic, fuel capacity, competitive price and last but certainly not least weight". It's fine though. They'll sell tens of 'em.

We're finally starting to see true comfort come back to motorcycling with these new ADV styled bikes.  I could care less about circumnavigating the globe, I just want to be comfortable like when I rode my old school UJM's.   There are more than enough tiny, light, uncomfortable, uberfast starbucks profiling machines out there for those so inclined.

This Honda reminds me of a grown up version of their old CL series scramblers, some offroad style on what's largely a street machine.   That's just fine with me.
