Maybe this should be in Region 6, but it might motivate some of you Region 5 guys to cross the border  Lol

Job had been driving me nuts for several weeks, so I lit up Tony the Tiger and went to my favorite R&R center, Wild Wonnerful WV. Left Spartanburg at 7:30am on Wednesday and got to Marietta, Ohio about 7 pm that evening by way VA & WV 16 with a bit of NC 181 on the front end. Remind me to bypass the coal towns from Bishop to Beckley next time. Started day two with 821/145/9/148/78, some Ohio back roads from my misspent youth. Then to WV 20 from the River to Webster Springs. If you have never run 15 from Webster Springs to US219 ya really gotta go. Third day was going home from Canaan Valley down the big valleys where it was hay mowing time. Perfect temps and weather, beautiful scenery and enough sweepers to keep you interested. Of course I had to hit 16 from Tazwell to Marion again. Right on 1,400 miles. Didn't think about work a bit  Bigok

WV is "almost" heaven. For some reason they are putting a mix of dirt and small gravel along the shoulders of many roads, not all, but a lot. Definitely keeps you on your toes. I was eyeballed by a load of deer, and that was just the ones I saw. They must know Tony is a Tiger because as soon as I got close the headed for the woods.

Has VA repealed the radar detector ban????   I didn't see the normal sign when US219 entered VA and I don't remember it going into VA on day one near Mouth of Wilson.

Soon as I get my "backordered" luggage from Triumph for the new 09 I bought, we will have to hook up for a trip.  Sounds like fun, always wanted to travel to WV.

i rode same area 2 weeks ago i agree that it is some great riding i think rt 16 marion to tazwell is just one of my favorite roads this was the first time i rode it up to beckley and like you would have done without some of the coal trucks and coal towns. i thought they must have running low on names when they named the one city war. at any rate i stopped a time or two the people were quite freindly i really liked 16 up to beckley as well when i came back i rode 311
down to salem va. nice road the whole ride was nice
