VIR earned it.  Pigs get slaughtered.

Sucks for the AMA tho.  At least there's many more tracks to choose from. Any chance they'll add a race to make up for it?  The last two venues have been, well, aces.

Speed had an interview with the head of operations for AMA Pro Racing. He said they've been looking at other venues -- mentioned talks with Road Atlanta -- but said it didn't seem feasible for tracks to put together a race and promote it at the last second (that was Road Atlanta's decision after working on it for a bit). Wasn't sure the teams could make last minute changes to their schedules either. He said they'd keep trying, but he didn't sound real hopeful.

This really sucks.  No Road Atlanta and now VIR.  I've only been tuned in to AMA racing for a couple years now, but it is much more exciting than Moto GP and the grainy feed WSBK.  Laguna boasted a 60% increase in attendance over last year.  I hope VIR realizes their mistake.  If it wasn't so close and such a great track I would boycott it.
