I was having trouble downloading my maps update to my computer so I called Garmin's 800 number for tech support. I was fully expecting this to take a while. I had to push 2 buttons, then a human being from the US that spoke english picked up immediately and actually knew what he was doing. Start to stop with the problem solved in under 10 minutes. I cannot remember the last time I called any tech support ( pay or free) and received such prompt service. I cuss at my tech toys when they don't work, so I thought I would post something nice for a change  Bigok.

  You evidently weren't calling about a 2610. All good things must come to an end.

When I called about my 2610 screen de-laminating, they had me send it in and sent me a 2820 as a replacement!

I had very good service from them also. I corrupted the entire database on my 450 by connecting it to an OS9 Mac like a moron.
The units are compatible with OSX only and the simple connection to the older Mac completely trashed the entire software
package on the 450.

The service people were knowledgeable and very helpful and had me restored quickly.

Now if they would just stop dumbing down the product line and using customers as beta testers for new products....

+1.  I had a screen go bad on my Zumo 550 while under warranty. They didn't fix it, they sent me a new one.

That's a common practice with any repair that might take time to perform.

I superglued my 12v cord to the GPS (power cord came apart in the heat, glued it back together, waited for it to cure, but in the heat it leaked some out onto the case).  Garmin needed to replace the case, but they just sent me a replacement GPS and power cord.

Do you know if the downloaded map updates can be shared? I have a zumo 550 and I wanted to share an update with a friend who also has a 550.

I doubt that will work.  Garmin ties each map license to a specific Garmin unit.  I have two Zump 550s and I can't use the lifetime map I bought for one to update the other.
