I ride a 2002 Hayabusa.  I'm trying to get some SWMotech EVO mounts and bags for it.  I already have the TraX 38L topcase, looking for the EVO sidecase mounts and TraX 37L sidecases.

I'm looking for a reputable vendor other than Twisted Throttle.  I have an email out to SWMotech, but haven't heard back from them yet.

Thanks!

Interesting first post.

Welcome?

My curiosity would be, why not TW?

I assume by TW you mean Twisted Throttle.  Poor service on 2 orders prevents me from sending them more of my hard earned coin.   I'm not looking to slam the company, just trying to buy some parts.

I searched the forums, but it seems like everyone buys their SWMotech shit there  Lol

Thanks for the welcome.

I beleive that TW is the main (if not only) SWMotech importer . . . . .

While I hvae heard of some that had trouble with em, most seem satisfied (though this doesn't fix the trouble the OP had, adimttedly).

No judgment here (yet  Wink) I was just curious as I have never had any thing but stellar customer service from them.

Where are you located? If you plan on sticking around after you get your desired info, people will want to get to know you and that's the place to start.

It can seem that they are the exclusive US distributor, but I don't think that is the case.

Also try http://www.adventuremotorcycleparts.com/ - while they may not show the Busa rack, they can likely order it.

Thanks for the leads - I'll check with Whitehorse and Adventure.

I updated my profile with my location.  Long time rider, love doing it all with my Busa.  Drag, twisties, touring.  Sick of soft luggage   Lol

I'm surprised to hear that. I've bought a bunch of stuff there and always had excellent service. Once I brought a bike there and they spent considerable time helping me choose the best-fitting windshield and even helped install it.

I've looked on fleabay for stuff like Givi bags, trying to score a bargain. There is another seller there, but his prices are always higher than at TT.

I've gotten decent service from Twisted Throttle.  The only issue I've had is them giving me a timeline for an item to get in stock and shipped to me and not meeting that timeline.  The part was at my house when I got back from my trip.  Missed it by that much!

Welcome from another Busa tourer  Thumbsup

Too bad about your experience with TW, I have had nothing but good service from them.

I just use the SW-Motech top rack on mine and love it. Holds plenty for me, and keeps the profile thin.

I can't help you with an alternative source, as I've always had good luck dealing with Twisted Throttle. Why not try them again - maybe the 3rd time will be the charm for you?  Smile

Yeah, I always thought TW was the exclusive US distributor for SW-Motech stuff. Shrug

They may not be the only retailer, though... I guess that's possible.

You appear to be correct.  I looked at the sw-motech.de site and they list Twisted Throttle as the official distributor for NA.

Before I posted this thread, I was searching the forums and found your ride.   Thumbsup  Nice to see another Busa tourer, there are a lot of us that roll together.  This was an meeting in NC... riders from GA, NC, FL, MI and MD.

I am currently just running the top case, but I'd like the side cases to go along with it.

As far as Twisted Throttle - I'm not interested in working that hard to give someone else my money.

Thanks for the alternative source suggestions, please keep them coming.

I have bought SW-Motech and Bags-Connections parts from I-90 Motorsports in Issaquah, WA (ask for Brent or Linclon in parts if you want to order from them) but they got the parts from TwistedThottle.  Twisted is the importer so you can buy from elsewhere but it still goes through them.  If it makes you feel better, their margin is lower when you buy from someone else.

Thank goodness others' countless experiences don't play into your decision making.  Thumbsup

Other than making a smartass comment to make yourself feel better, what is the point of your post?

If I have multiple bad experiences, should I continue to rely on others experience with a company?  How many times do you allow a company to provide poor service to you before you stop giving them your money?

It's probably because he has made several supportive suggestions as have many others. You have your mind set on not liking TT. You have your answer and now we play. We will probably eventually eat your liver with some fava beans and a nice Chianti.

I thought I made that obvious from my first post.  Fuck, the title of the thread should have been a clue for the slow ones.

I have thanked those that provided useful suggestions and had already followed up on several of them.

I'm a bit irritated at the whole situation, so my attitude may soften on ordering from another vendor even if Twisted Throttle gets a little bit of cash out of the deal... but probably not   Lol

Good call, Mr. Black  Lol

Not sure on the other stuff yet, Rincewind.  I was told that H&B had a bracket similar to the SWMotechs by another rider, but I have not confirmed it.  I'll post up in this forum as I progress with the luggage.  My preference would be to continue with the SWMotech stuff - still looking for that solution.  I like the product and the TraX boxes.

At least the topcase will give me some locking storage for my upcoming trips... including those grocery runs.

Hi Wayne,

This is Erik, the owner of Twisted Throttle. I'd like to try to chat with you about your experiences. I'm sorry you weren't pleased with your previous purchasing experience, and I'd like to get your feedback directly so I can make it better for both you and others in the future. I've looked up your previous order and will give you a call to discuss.

As far as sidecases go, the sideracks you need on a 2002 Hayabusa are part KFT.05.203.20000.B. We're currently sold out, but we have several of these coming in on our regular freight shipment around the first of August. I'd recommend getting your order in quickly, whether it's through us or through a dealer, in order to make sure you get one of the ones coming in on that shipment. As your model of Hayabusa is out of production, we don't have a call for many of these carriers anymore, so our stock is limited.

We do have plenty of Trax boxes in stock, so you should be good to go from that perspective.

If you do choose to go with another luggage manufacturer for your sidecarriers, pay close attention to the mounting points the sidecarriers use. If the mounting points are common with those used by your SW-MOTECH topcarrier, you may not be able to install both brands on your bike at the same time. For the sake of keeping your installation simple, you probably want to use only one manufacturer for both your side and toprack.

Thanks for your previous purchases. I hope that your future experiences, should you choose to give us another chance, will be much more fun.

Best regards,
-Erik

Hey Erik, long time no see..

Welcome Wayne.
Having had personal experience with Erik back when he was still in the Philadelphia area, I believe that he would do right by you.

I have had other vendors jerk me around both as a customer and as a retailer, its an all to common occurrence in the motorcycle world.
Heck I have one doing it right now, so my spare seat sits on my bench waiting for the new cover to arrive before I can send it to Spencer.

But, I've never had that issue with Twisted Throttle.
Not as a customer and not when I was working for a retailer.
His whole crew have always gone the extra mile for me.

There is a flip side. On another brand-specific club forum there was a deservedly unpopular vendor who screwed his customers and then insulted the members who posted about their experiences, sent threatening emails to them, and made prank phone calls.

I'm heading down to TT on Saturday to get some farkles and (hopefully) find a windscreen for the GS550.

It happens on every forum.
Popular vendor has issue.  Popular vendor gets bad press.  Popular vendor steps up.  The masses cheer popular vendor.
Lol
It's still cool. If I wasn't totally pleased with the service I have received from TT, I would have sat back and enjoyed the show. ANY issue I have had with ANY product (a large portion of my annual tax refund is spent there) has been dealt with in a timely fashion with me always coming out ahead.

I have to say Wayne that your 2002 is  Drool Drool Drool worthy. Great paint job!

Thanks.  I wish I could take some credit but the factory is responsible for it.  It's the original paint, I removed all the stickers.  On the 1stgen Hayabusas (99-07) only the tank lettering is under the clear,  everything else comes off with some heat and patience.  I prefer the no-stickers look.   Thumbsup

I'm interested to hear an update from Erik on this topic and how he's helped me.

 Lol

No follow up?  Check.

Ignored emails?  Check.

Passing the buck?  Check.

Double charged for a previous order that wasn't completed filled by TT?  Check.  (TT reversed the charge the next day)

So, are there any really good soft luggage setups for sportbikes?   Lol

As far as soft luggage goes, RKA is top quality stuff. Tim @ pashnit.com carries their line. He's well regarded on the Busa forums, and a good guy to do business with.

A buddy of mine is using the Corbin bags on his Busa, I might go that route, too.  Keep using my tailpack and large tankbag for longer trips (like MotoGP next week).

Nice looking bike, 1arm.  I had an old 1000 Interceptor in a similar color scheme.   Thumbsup
