Want to ride the Skyway & Dragon Sat the 23rd?

I know its Sat & the dragon will be crowded, its going to be hot & probably not that enjoyable at times but me & a friend are going to ride up to the dragon this Sat. I can honestly say that the dragon itself is not my favorite spot but getting there is a lot of fun. We have to ride up there at least once a year & so far this year we haven't.
We're going to ride Warwoman Rd to Clayton, Wayah Rd to 129, the Cherohala Skyway & then over to 129 N of the dragon. Ride 129 down to 28 & then ride 28 all the way back to Anderson.
If you want to go you're more than welcome. We will ride at a quick pace in the curves but will chill through small towns & try to ride the speed limit. We'll definitely pass on the double yellow. We're not complete squids but we both have children & like to ride the curves so we kick it up in the curves but leave a margin of error if need be.
The route is almost 400 miles from Anderson & to get it done & be home by dark we'll have to ride quickly & stay moving. Here is a link to the route. If you want to ride, I guess I can post my cell. Find a spot on the map to meet & I'll do my best to estimate what time we'll be there.
Odds are that we'll meet at 6:30am for breakfast & try to be on the road by 7. We should be in Clayton shortly after 8am.

Bummer, one of my favorite routes. Unfortunately, we're taking the bike in the opposite direction this weekend to meet up with some family. hope to catch you next time.

I'd make it as early of a ride as possible, weekend before last 28 was a parking lot from Highlands north.

You got it Hunter! Depends on whether you are going for the ride or the "attractions."
If I were riding this loop, and I have numerous times, I'd leave so that I hit Wallhala at or even well before 8am taking 28 all the way to the Gap. If you ride your route backwards and get out early enough you can miss a bunch of the rolling road blocks. I usually hit these roads on a Sunday or any other day but Saturday. Going the direction you are taking you will be allowing all three rings of the circus to be in full swing by the time you get to the Gap AND the gorge up to Highlands will be running about 10 mph at best.

I hadn't thought about it but you're right that it would be best to ride the loop backwards. I have no problem leaving early. We were planning on meeting at 6:30 am for breakfast.
Meeting in Walhalla at 7 or before is not a problem. Is either of you wanting to meet up & ride?

Really, I wish I could.
I will be near y'all though. I get to spend my weekend riding Thomas the Train with 200 other 2 year olds at the Smokey Mountain Railroad.
