Any  suggestions?  Is there a stem mount that fits?  Looks like the hole with the plastic cap is too small for a Techmount like I have used in the past.  Don't really like a control mount--puts the detector too high.

I think Ram makes a stem mount that will work. The mount has one of the mounting balls to connect to their brackets. I don't know the stem size offhand though.

That's a thread in mount and I don't think the inside of the steering stem is threaded. There's nothing else to thread it into. This is the mount I was talking about -

I have the Ram-mount that JSharp listed in the post above. I use in on my zx-14. It holds my GPS. It works just fine. No problems on a long trip.

This Ram mount looks like it will work on the Ninja 1000 as long as the smallest (12MM) washer in the kit will fit down into the steering stem hole.  The hole appears to be 12MM but I don't know if a 12MM washer will slide into it.  Has anyone installed this mount on a Ninja 1000?

The steering stem bolt on the Ninja 1000 is the same part number as the one on the Concours 14 and MotorcycleLarry.com sells a replacement bolt for the Concours with with a 3/8" threaded hole in it to accept a 1" Ram ball mount.  This solves my problem.

I'm still trying to figure out a way to mount a camera so that it doesn't turn with the bars. It's been too hot to work on the bike lately.

I have one of those mounts that I got from eBay. I had it on my Concours and it worked ok but on the Ninja the cap is far enough back that if I used it I couldn't use my tank bag.

So I'm looking to do the same thing.  Could you perhaps post exactly which one you ended up going with including the arm you mounted to the ball? I went to motorcyclelarry bur couldn't find something I can be sure will work.  I'm looking for something that I can mount either my iPhone or my GPS to so I'm going to need either an adjustable holder or two separate ones.

thanks

Map pocket in your tank bag? That keeps it out of the weather and offers some rain protection etc.

The part number at Motorcyclelarry.com is CO1400TCNUT, but it is currently backordered and they think it will ship in about 30 days (they have actually temporarily removed it from their website because of the availability issue).  They machine these themselves and the owner, Larry, who does the work was in a bad bicycle accident and is still recuperating.  You can order it with a 1" RAM ball.  I bought a short RAM arm (part #RAM-B-201U-A) with a 2" X 3" mounting plate (part #RAM-B-202U-23) to use with my Escort 9500 radar detector.  I plan to connect to the bullet connectors inside the left side of the faring--from what I understand, these are accessory leads that are switched and fused at 2 amps.

I've been doing that but the GPS unit won't stay in the right orientation and the buttons are hard to push.

I have used the RAM rubber sleeve mount in the center nut on the N1K. It's the one that you jam the rubber neck in, cut to suit and then use a bolt/nut to tighten it into the center stem. It comes with a ball mount as well.

I considered this RAM mount too but was worried that the smallest nut provided in the kit would still be too large to fit in the tiny stem hole of the N1K.  It's good to hear that it worked for you because I may go ahead and get this instead of waiting for the MotorcycleLarry.com replacement stem bolt I ordered since it seems to be on indefinite back order.  I feel downright naked riding without my radar detector!

So I bought this one and it doesn't fit.  The diameter of the mount is too large to fit in the stem nut.  Does anyone have a work-around?  Do I need to buy that replacement nut from MotorcycleLarry?  Can anyone assure me that it will work?  I found this option as well which looks nice and I think it will fit my Zumo 220 but I'm not positive.  http://www.twistedthrottle.com/trade/productview/6848/846/

Any suggestions?
Thanks.
