Motus KMV4 Engine Gets Hot Rod Attention

by Paul Crowe - "The Kneeslider" on 7/20/2011

In previous write ups on the Motus, we've mentioned how this little pushrod KMV4 engine has all the makings of becoming a real favorite of garage hot rodders who see lots of potential in the little beast. It's built to take advantage of well known techniques for getting perfomance far beyond what comes from the factory. Looks like Hot Rod magazine is noticing, too, because in the September issue, they have an article about the engine that looks no different than something they would write when reporting on the powerplant in the latest Corvette.

Read the rest at the link.

Many skeptics have asked how a tiny company like Motus intends to survive where much larger companies often fail.  Breaking into the market for crate engines could help them do that.  I don't know what is the demand for a 140 hp, 1.6 L V-4, but I can think of some cool applications for it.

Well, it comes with a tranny and is superlightweight. Could make a good spec-class race car engine maybe.

Or putting one in a Locost (Lotus 7 replica) would be a hoot.

That would be my guess.  Kit cars, replicas, 1/4 scale racers, even junior drags.

Those things will go like hell with a 250+ HP rotary engine.
