I *so* want to attend one of these, but that's a long trek back to Sacramento for work on Friday.

Eventually, I'll take a Friday off so I can venture out that way.

Or maybe it would be easier to just find a job on the Peninsula so I could be closer. Anyone need an HR Generalist?  Lol

The worst of the traffic at 5pm in Downtown SF will be getting onto the freeway. From Union Square, go west a bit to somehow get on 6th Street (i.e. Geary west to Jones south to Golden Gate east, cross Market to 6th south), then straight on 280 South to 101 South for a slightly faster route. Avoid 4th Street or anything southbound east of 4th/Stockton.

(Style note: locals only refer to the airport as SFO. It's SF or "the City".)

I'm a "maybe" on dinner -- let's see how tomorrow goes...

Good info on all of the above.  If regional newbs are acceptable (and you can handle the possibility of 2 Nevins!), I may try to meet up with you all too.  Depends on what time I can get out of work here in the City (see how I already put that knowledge to use Wink)

Katego - drop me a line if you want a lane splitting partner around 5:30 at nevinreilly@yahoo.com - I'll know by then if I'm stuck at the office or free.

With any luck, I may also be actually riding a motorcycle to dinner!  EEK! My Teiz suit is supposed to arrive in the mail today so if I can leave work early enough, I'll stop home for it and the bike and head to Burlingame.  Bigok

Good news on the riding.

I'm hoping work pans out better today than yesterday and I can get out at a reasonable time (especially considering my 8:30am New York time start).  Sounds like I need to be on the road by 6 to be on time.

I'm sorry but I won't make it to dinner tonight.  It turns out I will have surgery for a hernia next Monday and I have a lot to do before then.   Surgery will include a big incision with a piece of mesh put in to keep my insides from falling out again.  Crazy  After the surgery, there will be no riding for 4-6 weeks.

I called my roadside assist. I hope that to just need a jump start. Probably a few min on a battery tender would do the trick too. Should know in 30 min or so.

Indeed. I should have bought a lotto  tix yesterday. The roadside assist arrived within 20 min of the dispatch. Hurray. I had already pulled the seat and lifted the tank for battery access. The two of us tried to get it going with no luck. Just a erp or 2, but mostly nothing. As we were working on it a fellow stopped to chat. He mentions that he has a GSA. Ge says that the BMW dealer is just around the corner and starts to make a call. Keep on.mind, this is now well after 6pm. Shop is closed. he reaches Larry. ? Ok. Next he offers to drive me over there to get a battery. On the way over he explains that he used to own the dealership. Nice! We get there as Larry is geting pizza delivered for his guys that are working IT for the first time in a month. we talk over the symptoms and agree that it probably us not battery. So if I can get it over to the shop they will look at it. Whew. Michael takes me back to rei where the road assist guy has got the bike started. I quickly put the tank down and secure my stuff and ride the three blocks to the shop. The master tech starts in on diagnosis and finds that the contacts in the starter button are flaky. They don't have a new replacement so Mario canabolizes a part leftover from another job as a temporary fix that will het me home. It took about an hour from start to finish. They fed me pizza, fixed my bike cheerfully, and sent me on my way with good directions and big smiles. Many thanks to Michael. Of SF Mini & BMW (cars), an Larry, Mario, Freddy, and crew at SF BMW. I made it to Grants Pass tonight where I tap this out on my phone. Sorry I missed dinner!

Sorry I couldn't make dinner.   The wind came up around noon so we came in  and then I headed north to beat the traffic. Maybe some other time.  We tried a dinner once in the North Bay and only 3 of us showed up....
I guess not many   STn'rs  in the North Bay.
