so I got myself a nice mesh jacket (Tourmaster Draft Air) this summer, and have been gratefull when its 85+
Its got decent armor, but no back pad at all.  I figure I should get something for it, but its Tourmasters own goofy shape and it looks like the only thing that will properly fit is their own pad.

http://www.motorcycle-superstore.com/1/1/350/18232/ITEM/Cortech-Replacement-Back-Armor.aspx

and that doesn't look like it would do much...but I guess something is better than nothing?

My other option is to take the wimpy pad out of my Belstaff jacket and cut it to fit the Tourmaster jacket and at least get myself a better back pad for my main jacket?

$9 Fieldsheer = http://www.motorcyclegear.com/street/armor/back_protector:_installs_in_apparel/fieldsheer/ce_back_armor.html

$81 Joe Rocket = http://www.motorcyclegear.com/street/armor/back_protector:_installs_in_apparel/joe_rocket/ce_approved_motorcycle_back_protector.html

They both say CE rated?

Not interested in a seperate wearable pad, I know its best, but its not practical for a 3 mile commute.

anybody got any advice?

I upgrade my armor with stuff from these guys Velocity Gear

Non-standard shape is one of my bitches with my First Gear TPG jacket, I'm not impressed with the coverage for my spine, nor can I upgrade it with aftermarket. I do have a stand alone spine protector, great for daily strafing but a pita on trips.

This is what I use.  It's like a kickboard, solid with a soft covering, not hard foam.

So the pocket in your Tourmaster jacket is shaped like that replacement pad you linked to?

I have the opposite problem with my BMW mesh jacket: the pocket is so big that my Dainese back protector can move off center.

I figure the mouse pads they use in most gear is junk, I take the back pads out all together and wear back armor on my body. I found the Dainese to be the most comfortable when comparing it to the A*.

It's more expensive than most replacement armor but it will not move in the event of a get off.

yeah, we'll call it a "rocket ship" shape, I almost think the "boosters" are a bit rounder, but that's the one they sell for my jacket.

and yes, I know a seperately worn back protector would be best, but its just not practical for me in this application.

Honest the Velocity Gear Replacement Armor will fit in the "goofy" shape Tourmaster has. Their shape makes more sense than First Gears.

Dear First Gear, Whose spine is that small?

If you look at the shape and squint your eyes, another description comes to mind...  Cool

That 9 dollar pad will fit a TM jacket- just flip it upside down. I've bought so many of the Fieldsheer pads I should just get 'em in bulk.

I would think some velcro would fix that. Or maybe even doublesided tape.
